One of the best pieces of acting he ever did. This was scene that clinched that Oscar for him.

He was way too good at slipping in and out of those heavy roles for there to not be a lot on his heart.

Yep, exactly.

He was claiming he was trying to be proactive because he felt the urge of alcoholism coming on, which in turn, I guess the urge was being fueled by his depression.

Not a shock, but sad nontheless.

Comedians just travel a different path than most in entertainment and definitely than in the world.

He went back after the show was canceled. (and officially, it's because it was expensive for the ratings it was getting, which is typical CBS) And for that matter, to most celeb blogs anytime a celebrity check themselves into some place to get help it's 'rehab' He came close to killing himself before so he knew he was sliding back to that level of desperation. Unfortunately it was too late

Suicide is the cowards way out. We are all prone to sympathizing and immediately feeling pity toward those who buckle under the weight of the world, but we shouldn't! Losing to life is an admission of weakness.

Life is tough and sympathizing so strongly with suicide only encourages it. Leave suicide for the self hating liberals. life is always worth living.

You do realize that a lot of long term depression is due to a chemical imbalance in the brain, and not all of it is treatable by medication. Dysthymia is depression that has gone on for more than two years as an example.

Try to befriend some comics or people in the entertainment industry. You'll be surprised how many of them have various issues like low self esteem, childhood trauma, anxiety, etc. It's not always something you can just snap out of, or you can just get more money and power to fix.

Veteran film and television comedic actor Robin Williams was found dead on Monday. He was 63.

The cause of death is believed to be suicide via asphyxiation, according to the coroner’s office in Tiburon, Calif. He was found in his home.

Williams is best known for both comedic and dramatic roles in movies including “Good Will Hunting,” for which he won a Best Supporting Actor in 1997. In addition, he won several Emmys, Golden Globes.
Williams’ film career was bookended by TV roles including his breakout role on the ABC sitcom “Mork & Mindy” in 1978. He returned to TV on CBS last season, “The Crazy Ones.”

...but it is one of those things that people are ignorant about, and don't care to be enlightened.

I will say this: Don't get angry when someone makes light of your struggle or the struggle of someone close to you.

This man had everything including a legendary career and could not find happiness.

Good Will Hunting may have been his best work.

Robin Williams will be missed, but keep all sympathy for suicide to a minimum. Weakness to such a degree should not be glorified. Don't get me wrong, Im saddened by the news but for the sake of the living know that suicide is never the answer.

I was a fan of his since I was a kid. Watched him on Mork & Mindy on Nick At Night, followed by Hook and other films later on. Rip :(
