Legendary actor Robert Guillaume passes away at age 89. Robert Guillaume starred in Benson and Lion King, Soap and a number of other different shows. He was also a thespian, and was very popular as Phantom of the Opera. He was also the first black actor to win an Emmy for best actor in a comedy series. #RIP
This was one of the best roles he ever had and he wasn't even the star. This argument where he bitched out Joe Clark told him the way things were and at the end said, "come on let's go get a bite to eat."
That's love and respect right there. That's some grown man you need to hear this motherfucking shit but I still love you.
I binged watched Benson last year the whole series and it is still one of my favorites.
R.I.P..
always hated that final episode of Benson "And,the winner is....."
He suffered a stroke maybe 18 years ago and he was taken out by prostate cancer they say. 89 years is a nice long time. May you rest in peace, good sir.Holy shit... I didn’t even know he was still alive.
Damn This right here needs 10 to 20 pages... this dude was everything to my childhood.
Other than Katherine Helmond (and those titties) Guillaume was the BEST thing about "SOAP".
And "BENSON" was a great sitcom.
R.I.P.

Man that shit was on after my bedtime during its' first run, but I caught it syndication in the early 80's.... I wish I could find the clip with the demon baby
The baby is upstairs making demon noises and shit, and Benson braves up and walks up the stairs to like exorcise the demon out of the kid..... on his way up he says "my grandmother always told me to stand up and face the devil! Then the baby/demon lets out an extra loud noise and Benson turns around and said "my grandmother was a babbling fool!"
edit: youtube to the rescue... it was his mother, not his grandmother
