A text message obtained by CNN shows a Glynn County police officer told the owner of a home under construction near the Georgia coast that he could contact Gregory McMichael for help with potential trespassers seen in surveillance video from his property.www.cnn.com
It looks like they were acting as agents of law enforcement and not performing a citizen arrests if this is true. The homeowner consented to the McMichaels patrolling their property as I suspected through his lack of refusal. I always thought it was a little too presumptive for a McMichaels to confront the victim like that on another person property that they allegedly did not know.
If they were acting as agents of law enforcement, they could detain him based on reasonable suspicion and have other qualified immunity. I don't know why they are claiming this other garbage. It does not look too good for Ahmaud.

they should have asked him about the McMichaels saying he tried to cut Ahmaud off when he ran the other direction from them. If he wasn’t apart of their gang then he should easily be able to say he didn’t

Does any and every officer have the power to appoint regular citizens as agents of LE?
Also most of my searches referencing acting as a government agent are only in cases of illegal searches and seizures aka 4th Amendment...Not in cases of "protecting property" or anything like that.
I would think that would require deputizing, a swearing in ceremony or some sort of paperwork. Not just officer John Q tells resident A to call resident B, now resident B is an agent if police.

From the police report they made after the killing but before the video came out. I think there was probably a dirt rode between Buford and Holmes because when we see the video Ahmaud is going around that corner going onto Holmes road and in the police report the McMichaels said after Ahmaud doubled back on them and then went pass Roddy when he tried to block him they continued to Holmes road to cut him off so when they all turned around the follow Ahmaud the McMichaels took that shortcut to get to Holies road and that’s how they were able to be in front of Ahmaud and Roddy when they came around that corner. If this video is correct and they are saying after Roddy failed at cutting Ahmaud off he turned his car around and chased him from Buford to Holmes then Roddy got some explaining to do
McMichael stated he and Travis got in the truck and drove down Satilla Drive toward Burford Drive McMichael stated when they arrived at the
intersection of Satilla Drive and Holmes Drive, they saw the unidentified male running down Burford drive McMichael then stated Travis drive down Burford and
attempted to cut off the male. stated the unidentified male turned around and began running back the direction from which he came and " Roddy " attempted to block him which was unsuccessful Michael stated he then jumped
into the bed of the truck and he and Travis continued to Holmes in an attempt to intercept him .
McMichael stated they saw the unidentified male and shouted " stop stop ,
we want to talk to you" . Michael stated they pulled up beside the male and
shouted stop again at which time Travis exited the truck with the shotgun. McMichael stated the unidentified male began to violently attack Travis and the
two men then started fighting over the shotgun at which point Travis fired a shot and then a second later there was a second shot.
in the report they only talked about the 2 shots that hit Ahmaud while they were struggling over the gun, they didn’t mention the first shot that Travis fired when he saw Ahmaud go to the front of the truck

I dig that the lawyer is just doing the job he was hired to do, but his excuse of "my client was sitting in the house, some things happened, and now he is in a whole mess"...man he really Seinfeld yadda yadda yadda'd his way out of saying anything of substance.
