It was dismissed with prejudice, so it's over. The police found live ammo that was related to the case and intentionally filed it under a different case so the defense wouldn't know it existed.
I think you're right. Whatever upward mobility they had in their field ground to a halt. Hope it was worth it just to try to make a name for themselves.
Think about how often prosecutors pull this type of shit in poor and potentially innocent defendants who don't have the means to hire attorneys that will catch it and are assigned public defenders who are too overwhelmed to be able to catch it.
