At It AGAIN (9:52am RANT)
Hmm.....
Several months ago I posted a LONG blog entry explaining that I would no longer be working in movies.
I received SEVERAL comments with regards to and was (and still am) 100% confident with my decision.
However, it has recently been brought to my attention that there have been some people who have "seen me" at my night time job and decided that they wanted to have something to say about it.
I dont try to fight all my battles...the vast majority of people who attempt a war of words with me are unarmed and just....not ready. So I dont try....
But on this, I will say that I wont defend what it is that I do, nor will I be ashamed of it. I serve drinks at nite.....and? Instead of spending what SHOULD be a comedic few hours in a club GAWKING at me, how about paying attention to the fools on stage that are trying to do their thing?
Instead of spending time worrying about my bank account (be it large or small), how about you muster up the guts to say whatever it is you say on a MESSAGEBOARD to my face when you do see me in the streets?
Its funny as hell to me b/c every night that Im there, several people do point out that they know me....and even funnier is that a LOT of people end up wanting ME as their waitress just BECAUSE of that. So that always equals more $$ in my pocket. And of course Im gonna love it....and I love the fact that THESE people can at least say "Hey....I know you," and go about their business rather than starting up some bullshit ass pass along emails and threads on a messageboard making an announcement.
Funny thing is is Im willing to bet one nites work that WHO-SO-EVEREN started that thread was probably that same mu'fucka that tipped me $50 just for getting him a Corona......desperate ass.
Anywhoo, all that to say....I have no shame in what I do, just as I didnt when I was shooting film. I would MUCH rather be working in a club, getting my laugh on and helping YOU get tipsy than to be working in my former environment. Now, Im not sure if Im suppose to be ashamed of changing my life. I guessed I missed the memo on "You Aint Suppose To Do Good Shit." But it is what it is......
Rather than going around, attempting to defame me or my character....SPEAK, mu'fucka! Say "Hi." I dont bite or get pissy with you...its my JOB to be polite. I only get a lil salty when you CONTINUOUSLY ask me for my number and at that point, I politely hand you your ticket, tell you what you owe me and keep it moving.
This is silly....I guess you cant please everyone. If I DO make movies, folks have something to say...and if I choose to walk down another path (a path that will actually ENABLE me to go to school, mind you?), Im talked about.
