Antoinette was definitely out of pocket stealing on MC Lyte's brother's music...

"After Antoinette bit the beat from her brother Milk D's massive hit "Top Billin'" Lyte went on the warpath. "10% Dis" is pure, unrelenting devastation--ether before "Ether."

Antoinette was dope - I got an attitude was my shit back then. Wasn't there a rumor that Rakim or somebody was writing Antoinettes rhymes?

Then when these came out? It was a wrap. Lyte to me is still the measuring stick in many ways for female MCs. Never really had another one that came out with that kind of success without the selling of sex. I know its a different time and all that but yea. She got biz.

Antoinette's dopest joint, I used to blast that in the jams, and indeed she's way better than a lot of cats, even now,
but MC Lyte was a whole different class of dope.

Ummm No, Don't know WHEN that shit reached you but I was here at ground zero and saw everything transpire.
Antoinette was totally different lyrically. She was from the Bronx which was (at the time) WAYYYY more respected than Brooklyn . MC Lyte's lyrics and flow is play school compared to Antoinette's. Listen to how many times she switched flows in "an attitude". Listen to the metaphors...they non-existent with Lyte
Problem was is Lyte had a better team behind her.

nigga go somewhere! :smh::lol::cool:

Listen everybody looks for different things in Music.
In Rap I listen for Flow, Metaphors, Complexity, Voice and Lyrics.
If you can find an MC Lyte song that has better things above than Antoinette's "Attitude"
please attach it. Her shit was play school compared to Antoinette.

I remember hating MC Lyte's Poor Georgie, however I loved the beat; I was torn. & that goes for a lot of her songs, weak lyrics and good beats. She stepped up her game lyrically with "Ruff Neck," though.

That's all she ever had was production.
I'm STILL waiting for somebody to post a song where she ripped it
