Which company was that? Was this a manager at your company or was it someone they brought in to consult? If so who was the consultant?
the company I worked for was Thresher Communications. The comment wasn't made by anyone at the company, but by an employee of a firm that hosted our workplace violence seminar. I don't remember the name of the firm or the lady who conducted the seminar. She was referencing a recent workplace shooting in Connecticut, but it worried me because I had complained to some employees about their racist comments on the job. I don't know if it was deliberate or not, but the fact that she felt comfortable making that statement in the first place shows the kind of racial climate that exists in these companies.
With that said, when I started at Thresher in 2011 only three of their roughly seventy Bay Area employees were Black. When I left in 2012 there was only one. I don't know about their other branches, but when Google's construction picked up they brought in some of their Austin Texas, and Richmond, Virginia people to help out. All of them where white.
