voo is the s&p 500 vti includes all of voo plus couple hundred more companies. If you compare them on a a chart they both pretty much go in the same direction.
So it's the lack of diversity that makes it not a smart way to invest?
They both give around the same returns, one might give a percent or 2 higher for the year depending on different factors but you can't go wrong with either.

Look at SPY, its the same as VOO but if you wanted to day trade one you would go with SPY because it gets more daily volume, but over a long period they are the same,

Long story short, Flawless is right. They are basically the same fund structurally and performance wise.

STRUCTURALLY the difference is that VTI includes the total market which is essentially all of VOO (S&P500) + all the mid and small caps. So the theory is that by having VTI, you not only get the S&P 500 companies, but exposure to the small and mid caps as they come up and appreciate. However...

PERFORMANCE-WISE the two funds / strategies have nearly IDENTICAL results over the past few decades. Since the exposures are weighted in the fund(s), you get more of the large cap and less of the mid to small cap anyway.

BONUS: I believe you can alternate between the two when tax loss harvesting to avoid the wash sale stuff, which is a huge plus.

Can someone explain to me why it doesn't make sense to invest in VOO and VTI? Some people say it's because there is so much overlap, but it still doesn't make sense to me.

Wallstreettrapper brought that up and said the only difference is 15% one or or another. He said it didnt make sense to own both...

biggest difference are the cost ( SPY is 3 times more expensive) , liquidity ( SPY has the largest volume traded on a daily basis).
This seems to suggest that VOO or IVV will perform better than SPY because they are cheaper in the long run.

IMO SPY for daytrading and VOO or IVV for the long term

UFC parent company Endeavor Group (EDR) has agreed to combine with World Wrestling Entertainment(WWE) in a $21.4 billion deal. WWE shares are down over 4%, Endeavor shares are up 6%.
why would UFC want to do that...

Fam, can some of the bgol experts walk us through a call or some money making move! Tito has Ben MÍA for months now. It’s not just about making money. I respectfully ask for a step by step tutorial on the moves you making as you walk us through a money making venture. Thank you in advance. I ain’t ashamed to admit I lack knowledge in this area despite my attempts to learn.

Good looking out. I missed this didn't know it was coming.

This is my quickly put together plan:
  • Research X Corp and its "everything app"
    • Understand company vision
    • Analyze potential market for the app
    • Evaluate how Twitter acquisition contributes to success
  • Decide whether to invest in X Corp or X Holdings Corp
  • Evaluate merger impact on Twitter
    • Assess changes to platform, user base, and revenue streams
    • Analyze potential changes in features, advertising models, and user experience
  • Monitor industry trends
    • Watch for consolidation within social media and technology sectors
    • Identify potential mergers or acquisitions
    • Evaluate new investment opportunities or risks
