Anyone watches BBC America's Copper?

Though it grosses me out, I am glad they're not shying away from the child prostitution angle. I thought I heard someone say on the "behind the scenes" show that in 1864 the age of consent in New York (and probably in the USA) at that time was ten. I remember either in "The Alienist" or in "The Angel of Darkness"(those books were set in the 1890's)Caleb Carr does mention that it wasn't illegal for a twelve year old child to work as a prostitute in New York.

re the black doctor, I find him to be the most intriguing character and would like more backstory, especially his and his wife's experiences during the Draft Riots.

He also mentioned something about Paris, so he'd been abroad at one point. I would love to learn more about his timeline. Did he get educated in Paris? It wasn't Freedmen's Hospital in D.C. because that opened in 1863 and he seemed to be have been in his profession for awhile. He could have gone to a white college & medical school up North but I can't imagine how hard that was.

'Copper' earns its badge, gets second season​

BBC America has renewed Copper, its freshman drama about a 19th-century New York City policeman. “Copper has proven to be a perfect fit for the channel,” said Perry Simon, BBC Worldwide America’s general manager of channels. “Production led by Tom Fontana, Will Rokos, Barry Levinson and Christina Wayne, along with the cast from both sides of the pond, truly captured the boiling pot that was New York City in 1864. We can’t wait to get started on the second season.”

The channel ordered 13 new episodes, three more than the show’s first-season run (which concludes this Sunday.) Copper’s premiere in August was watched by 1.8 million viewers, and it’s delivered more than a million each week since.

In addition to Copper returning in 2013, BBC American also announced that its second original scripted series Orphan Black, starring Tatiana Maslany, will go into production this month and premiere in early 2013.

Thoroughly enjoyed the first season...thought they kinda overdid the "Annie" character. They turned a 10yr old girl into a veteran working girl

that was my problem...because this was supposed to be the BIG REVEAL...

and it was nothing.

We knew the rich chick was evil the whole time cause the little girl called it the FIRST time they met.

Then they had the main character betray his best friend by sleeping with his hooker/fiancee on some bullshit foreshadowing and then wrote off her character

Looks like The Wire x Boardwalk Empire to me.

been meaning to watch, but just finally got around to it last Sunday. Damn, I'm diggin it. The episode I saw was the one where the chick from the Bourne Identity was playing a Madam and a rival pimp carved his initials into her back. Was that new or from season 1?

BBC America cancels 'Copper' after two seasons

The upcoming season 2 finale of BBC America’s Copper will be the series’ swan song.

The period crime drama, which was BBC America’s first original scripted series, starred Tom Weston-Jones as Kevin Cocoran, a detective who works in New York City’s notorious Five Points neighborhood during the 19th century.
“Copper has been a fascinating and exciting experience for everyone involved,” says BBC America General Manager Perry Simon. “The opportunity to work with Tom Fontana, Barry Levinson, Will Rokos, Thomas Kelly and the extraordinary cast and crew on this journey is one that we are extremely proud of. Their vision to re-tell the immigrant experience through the melting pot of New York City was an original and fresh idea that melded well with the essence of BBC AMERICA’s programming. After 23 episodes, with Lincoln dead and the nation starting to heal, it seems a fitting moment to conclude this American story.”

It also starred Franka Potente (American Horror Story: Asylum), Kyle Schmid (Being Human) and in the recent season added Donal Logue (currently on Sons of Anarchy) and Alfre Woodard.
