Douglas county wasn't going to let that ride. For those that don't know, that part of Douglasville has a rather large population of black folks that have money. Don't typically see that type of shit over there.

You ain't wrong at all, but I kinda feel like the parents should have foreseen something like this happening at any large gathering of youngsters these days.

Somebody's gonna be packing, be jealous of someone over popularity, girls, material things etc and have a tragic result.

They aren't criminally responsible but c'mon son.

:smh: Gwinnett going to lock all their asses up.

When did gang culture become so prevalent in the south? Maybe it's always been like that in GA, but I grew up in Columbia, SC and you never heard of gangs....Even here, the gang culture is rampant and I am not sure where the shit came from...

I mean you had dudes from different neighborhoods that had a lil beef here and there, but not gangs...

Kids have a mind of their own. You can raise a scholar student and have a trouble making rebellious kid under the same roof. You tell me how can you enforce it. Parents can go to jail for punishing their kids. But, then there are parents who are criminals themselves.

I'm just saying I wouldn't have thrown the party.

I wasn't clear with my meaning. I was speaking about the parents who threw the party for their kid. Not the parents of the fake thugs

Obviously the kids are scared and don't want to be next.

Out of those 80, somebody's phone has texts talking about the shooters no doubt. I want to say parents do your job but they don't want to be next either.

It's the 1800s where anybody old enough to walk could be carrying a gun and retribution comes swiftly.

People going to jail and running into folks that are bangers from what I gathered. From right outside of ATL and we never had these types of issues when I was a kid. Now though? 13-16 year olds acting like they're in Iraq. Never ever had to worry about no gun type shit when I was in school but times have changed. And I was in the county...even theyre bangin now.

That's some of it but not all of it. These kids glorify that "no snitching" shit even though they have never had to live that type of lifestyle. You had folks following that gunna dude around town calling him a snitch, all types of shit. Nobody gave a shit when YSL was round here shooting up tour buses, but when folks started telling on dude it was a cardinal sin. That's just the culture for these youngins.

Solutions?

As a father (I'm not) I would assume focusing on academic teams or social clubs rather than sports might be a good way to keep your kid out of this stuff.

I did track but I also did yearbook, Urban League, church stuff, etc...pretty much all school year I was busy from 3-6 after class, then had to be home for dinner and homework...Parents almost always knew where I was unless I lies about it lol.

Got in my fair share of trouble but not like this. Probably would though in these times cause any of your friends could be carrying a pistol and you're just caught up in whatever they do.

Parents really should take their kids to visit a prison as soon as they show signs of rebellion or acting out. That might save some kids by showing them where that path leads. Scares straight is a good program too but actually seeing it for yourself is more eye opening.

FACTS!

I was in this program in high school that talked about different careers and we would go to like USC law school, medical school, and etc and talk to the students about careers.

We went to this jail in Columbia which was a low level facility (like dudes who didn’t pay child support and small shit) and that shit blew my mind. I said yup want do anything to end up here.

Hell even with STDS. In college, I was doing this summer program for students interested in healthcare fields and we had a lady from the health dept come and talk to us about stds. Let’s just say the pics she showed made me be like yeah I’m not fucking everything walking if my dick can end up looking like that.

The internet. And dudes bringing it down from NY before that.

In Columbia those projects next to Benedict were gang infested before the internet became a thing. That was a clear and obvious no go zone. But now we got Crips and Bloods in Sweden thanks to the net.

Look at this simple minded fat useless piece of shit kid. Oh yeah. I said all of that.

Laughing and smiling in his mugshot. 2 kids DEAD. Ain't laughing now is ya?

Crying when that judge started reading off the options should you be found guilty.

DEATH PENALTY
LIFE IN PRISON

Parents gotta get back to explaining to kids about how harsh Southern States are and always have been on Black offenders especially.
