Barack Obama has exposed the "Black Hustle"

Barack Obama is about to become the president of the United States.

And all these years, we have been told by Jesse, Al, NAACP, various hustling preachers and poverty pimps that as black people, we (BLACK MEN) can't be SHIT!! and so many of us fed into it and are now rotting away in prisons, struggling to find their way out here, or dead. and anybody who disagreed with the Hustle/Rhetoric was considered a sellout/tom :smh:

These negroes have quite literally, FUCKED my generation....this next generation (my kids) won't have these problems all because of ONE MAN. I am too thankful for that...but I seriously believe that Jesse and Al (and others) should be held accountable for the irreversible damage they inflicted on our communities. anybody else agree?

(i'm gonna go ahead and give this thread 1 star for the pro black cats lurking)

Soon enough you can truly say to your offspring, you can become anything you want to become including the president of the United States.

I can't completely knock Jesse and others who lived and fought during the Civil Rights struggle, but I do agree with your points to a degree....

I don't get it. How have they discouraged black men? Could you elaborate on this? Maybe post some examples. I'm tryin real hard to understand your post.

Have no idea WHERE you got that from. You mean Jesse saying "I am somebody" for DECADES really meant we weren't shit?

- it's the overall message behind thier speeches and public statements: you are going to tell me that after Jesse and al speak (and think back to when u were younger) that you were INSPIRED!?!?

think about that: When was the last time Al sharpton or Jesse or somebody from the NAACP made you feel like grabbing a book and getting your education. or make you want to start up a business or do some good in the community...I can assure you that 10 times out of 10 after they spoke, you felt like wringing a white persons neck, or getting out and protesting or whatever.

that's all fine and dandy, but when u are done protesting u are STILL broke, in the hood, dealing with bullshit, and these negroes ride off with their pockets full...it was a HUSTLE...i say WAS because their time is finally over.

- bruh...I truly think that Jesse's intentions initially were genuine, he started out as a radical but mellowed out just like Malcolm did...well, when he got in good and realized all the $$$$ to be made, he shifted gears and became a shakedown artist.

he turned dr kings dream into a multi-million dollar business for himself and those closest to him. and the only way to keep that $$$ flowing was as long as black people remained dysfunctional...

Not sure I would agree about Sharpton. He's done some dirty shit in his past, but he's starting to seem more and more genuine to me over the last few years. Jesse has always seemed like he's got a personal hidden agenda, so he can eat a dick.

And I still think it will take some time but I'd say the kids from about the 4th or 5th grade and down might be safe from becoming Niqqas if Obama wins. I think both of Obama's terms will be over (bout 8-10 years) before we really see a MAJOR change in the hood.

When Jesse says: " You may not be responsible for getting knocked down but, you are responsible for getting up!" What do you think that means? Al has always been on the front lines fighting for injustice while getting crucified on talk radio and other media outlets. Al is one of the only cats I know that can go on Faux News - I mean Fox news - and go toe-to-toe with all those conservative bithces.

I'm not saying all is good with the NAACP and various other civil & human rights groups. But just because Obama may win this shit is no reason to throw these other brothers under the bus.

First of all, I do not lump Jesse Jackson in with the NAACP. Because that organization is not really intended to benefit the entire black community... In fact, after W.E.B. DuBois left 50 years ago, it became something of a bourgeois organization that was somewhat out of touch with the common man. Especially in the NORTH

Secondly, Jesse Jackson DID inspire quite a few people when he ran for president 25 years ago. I, for one, would have never registered to vote in 1985 if he hadn't been running for office and if he hadn't spoken out about apartheid and the racist South African government. It was him back in 1984 that sparked my interest in activism to begin with. An interest that had all but died after the BPP died out in the mid 70s. He may have been nothing more than an opportunist (like US organization), but he brought back a movement out of practically nothing in the 80s. So yes, he did inspire MY generation back then.

Having said that, he did sell out the black democratic party after his second run in 1988. At that point, I am guessing that he knew he was not ever going to be president, so he felt he needed to cash in on his celebrity. But he did it at the cost of his standing among black folks.

BUT, he was STILL at the forefornt of the struggle against APARTHEID in 1988-1989. If not for the struggle he helped wage in THIS country, against THIS government's collusion with SA's gov't, we might still have apartheid in that country

and I will not forget that.

Once again, I will not lump all those cats together. For ME, Jesse stands apart from the other people or orgainzations you mentioned for the reason I stated. But he is human. Not that it is any excuse, but just how long is a brotha supposed to sacrifice his livelihood for??

- yall are missing the point - it's not about who is a civil rights leader or who will fight for your rights or whatever, my point is that a lot of black folks fed into the notion that the world is not FOR BLACK FOLKS, that they may as well stay in the hood because you won't amount to shit...

yall dudes love yall some jesse and al (and others), but stop and seriously ask yourself why is it that our communities are getting worse, but these dudes are worth MILLIONS of dollars? what great legislation have these people helped gotten passed that has benefited black people across the country?

I like the comparisons between Dr King and Obama because both of these black folks are doing things that will reverberate THROUGHOUT the rest of black history...can these PIMPS say this!?!

The fact that you implied that Jesse and Al inspired blacks to look down on ourselves is a faulty and horrible premise.

Maybe they didn't motivate you to pick up a book, but to go state that they've created the opposite effect is outright STUPID.

.

- well, you will probably just hurl another playground insult, but I will ask this question to challenge you:

why is it that jesse, al, dyson, west, maxine waters etc etc...why is it that these blacks don't talk about how THEY became successful in life? why is it that they've NEVER held a seminar or a speaking engagement SOLELY on the topic of how they themselves escaped the bullshit and got into politics/becoming a professor etc etc, and how these kids can too...

what sense does this make for them not to? and why do we as a people allow this "HUSTLE" to continue? these theatrics?

just questions man...I apologize in advance if they piss you off.

- that's the easy way out...to say that I have "an agenda!" because I say something that you disagree with. that's just being mentally lazy.

and yes I do have an agenda, it's to explain to folks that Barack Obama made it to the highest position in this country, without blaming the white man or pointing fingers at carefully selected acts of racism to line his pockets.

i dont know where to begin......except to tell you to delete this thread immediately.

there is no "black hustle".....al sharpton and jesse jackson are not profiting off the backs of black people. rainbow/push and national action network are not million dollar empires like you seem to think.

nobody fucked your generation up...except..your generation....if you're going to point fingers..get a mirror.

nobody made any teenage girls have kids...nobody make crack addicts..nobody made drug dealers...nobody black forced the development of the urban culture to what it is today that is black. did it get perpetuated by blacks? absolutely, but you see young man, it is the creation of a higher source with a specific purpose.

you're truly ignorant to think that because obama will be the next president everyone will shape up and fly right....you're truly ignorant if you think your kid's hero isn't soulja boy or kobe bryant....

you're truly ignorant if you think that a people who come from struggle will no longer struggle because one man...who isn't of the lineage of slaves...you need a book thrown at you...you can start with the works of web dubois...no...take it back to frederick douglas...then shut the fuck up and don't post anything else until you realize how ignorant you truly are...

1) I find it funny that its cool to say that the government creates an "environment" for black folks to commit crimes and be violent, but the same can't be said for black preachers and politicians who are VISIBLY wealthy off of the same criminals. wake up.

2) Jesse Jackson and Rainbow push are worth millions. no need to speculate we are on the internet - find info that says otherwise

3) a black man in the white house WILL affect the psyche of ALL black people, and our children. again...wake the fuck up.

nigga go to sleep, seriously...

rainbow push is not worth millions of dollars you fucking moron, where in the hell do you think it would get millions of dollars from?? where the hell do you think jesse jackson got millions from?

why are you throwing in black preachers and politicians? you're talking about a man who is a POLITICIAN inspiring people, but just said they become wealthy off of people...so i guess obama is exempt?

a black man in the white house will affect the psyche of all americans period, but not all in a good way, some in a bad way. nigga no utopia is coming, actually what may end up happening is black people start being held to UNREALISTIC higher standards.

you're not a thinking man...at all

nigga, how much is RAINBOW PUSH and JESSE worth then? educate me, PLEASE.

black preachers and politicians have been FUCKING poor black people over since dr king died!!! but here is the kicker: there is no physical evidence to support any argument otherwise. when you walk through the hood do you see the "activism" that 4 decades of Jesse, NAACP, and black PREACHERS/POLITICIANS have put in? can you see where their "positivity" has rubbed off on folks?

Obama just being where he IS will work wonders on our community just in and of itself. if you can't see that then so be it....

ooh!! hey, how about you respond with more "u ignorant mufucka!" responses instead of actually trying to think for yourself..:lol:

No, I don't agree. This is because Al, Jesse, Louis Farrah Khan and Mr. Barak Obama still don't know what to do about the global system of RACISM/WHITE SUPREMACY. With that mentioned i can and will never blame any non white person for the existence of this system and what it does to our people. Do you sir, have a solution?

Can you summarize your thought process for us, on how you came to this conclusion that this is what they've been telling Black men?
I have not always agreed with some of their methodology, but I came to the conclusion (because of their decades of support), that they took the position, if Black people were given a fair shot, they would succeed a majority of the time.

Barack Obama is about to become the president of the United States.

Sounds to me like your parents fucked up. So, because you werent inspired to pick up a book, its their fault and not your parents?

Me and my 6 year old son read books all the time. When his school had a book fair recently, he reminded me for days before the event to make sure I send him to school with money so he can buy books.

Don't blame the FAILURES of your parents on Jesse, Al, and the NAACP- who focus on "civil rights"

think about that: When was the last time Al sharpton or Jesse or somebody from the NAACP made you feel like grabbing a book and getting your education.

I think that what the OP means is that when you constantly see someone like Jesse Jackson speaking up against "the system" being unjust, well after a certain point it can bring people down too. Like - We wont give our max because we already know the game is rigged against us, and we know this because Jackson has been telling us this for so long - type of thing.

And I do feel that this is a real danger when dealing with injustice. You have to really be careful and balance it out with teaching proactiveness and showcasing that success is there for the taking, rigged system or not.

But this isnt Jesse and them fault. Its up to us to be proactive and have a positive attitude. To raise our kids like we should. To treat each other with respect like we should. To educate ourselves like we should...

Be very caeful OP, cause Im telling you a President isnt the answer. You might have more power and opportunity to good for the kids around you then a President ever will.
