Was scrolling through IG earlier and ran passed an old Spice-1 song and it got me thinking that fam really didn't get the recognition as one of the pioneers of that gangsta shit from the west coast.

I remember niggas in Oakland called him out for claiming the town when he's from Hayward. Hayward got some shitty parts so he should have just repped Hayward. Nobody would have cared.

Apparently shit was no joke in the 90s out here . Remember everything was about being hard everywhere. These soft ass kids today would get they asses beat. All them lil sky's and other suburban weirdo rappers would get a beat down.

Anyways my boy was saying there was all sorts of beef around here . West Oakland vs. East. East Oakland Vs. North Oakland, Richmond vs. Oakland. Fillmore over in Frisco vs. Hunters Point . So if somebody wasn't from Oakland and tried to make it seem like they were they'd get called out. Saafir roasted all of Hieroglyphics live on the radio. I was rollin when I heard the tape.

Yeah spice doesnt get enough recognition.

Glad to see others outside the Bay fuck with his work. Which is always funny to me, I meet a lot of people who fucked with his music outside the bay when I expect them to mention Too Short Ice Cube or E-40 etc

I heard the first Spice 1 album because I jacked a tape from my cousins crib. I was hooked. He didn't blow up in the Midwest until the Menace II Society soundtrack but I'd put cats on in my lil section of the Chicago area and we knocked Spice hard.
