DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — DeKalb County District Attorney Sherry Boston announced Friday that a mother was convicted at trial for “trying to take the law into her own hands,” leading to the death of a teenager in 2020.
According to the DA’s office, Danyale Harris found a video of her at-the-time 12-year-old daughter involved in a sexual act with a 22-year-old man named Antonio Harley.
After seeing the video on March 31, 2020, Harris reported the information to the DeKalb County Police Department. An officer from the DKPD Special Victim’s Unit took the report and told Harris that detectives would be in touch, also warning her not to let her anger get the best of her and not to try to get revenge, according to the DA’s office.
Instead, Harris gathered a large group of people to an apartment complex to confront Harley, the DA’s office said.
Officials said Harris and three of the people she brought with her were armed with handguns. Around 1 p.m. that afternoon, Harris told her daughter to point out Harley’s apartment. Then, the DA’s office said Harris knocked on the door with the group behind her.
Harley did not answer the door. Instead, the DA’s office said he went around the side of the building to see who was knocking. Harris and the group then “chased Harley, who managed to make it back inside his apartment through the back door.”
Once the door was shut, a member of Harris’ group “opened fire, striking Harley in the chest.” His brother, who was also inside the apartment, then opened fire to protect himself and five younger siblings, according to the DA’s office.
During the exchange of gunfire, the DA’s office said Juan Newkirk, 19 and a member of the group with Harris, was shot and killed.
The DA’s office said two others involved in the confrontation were also charged, in addition to Harris.
Harley was charged with statutory rape, child molestation and sexual exploitation of children, and his case is pending, according to the DA.
Harris was convicted by a jury of felony murder, aggravated assault, conspiracy to commit aggravated assault and possessing a firearm during the commission of a felony.
After the guilty verdicts, Harris was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole, plus five years, according to the DA’s office.

Got it. Yeah, she fucked up. Life is a bit extreme but she definitely needs some time behind this.Sad situation but she was NOT convicted of murder for shooting the alleged abuser.

The alleged abuser, Harley was able to creep out the back door and around the side, and saw the crowd at his front door. They spot him creeping, he makes it back inside the back door, takes a shot to the chest. Harleys brother, is inside with their other siblings, (small kids btw) returns fire. 19 yr old Juan Newkirk came with Danyale, he gets shot and killed by the brother.
She was warned by 911 dispatch to wait on the detectives to call her and to not try to seek revenge.

On March 22, a jury found Danyale Harris, 42, guilty of felony murder, aggravated assault, conspiracy to commit aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony in connection with the 2020 incident, the DeKalb County District Attorney’s Office announced in a Friday press release.
According to prosecutors, on March 31, 2020, Harris allegedly discovered a video showing her young daughter being abused by a 22-year-old man, later identified as Antonio Harley. Subsequently, Harris tried to “take the law into her own hands,” the release states.
The next day, around 3:30 a.m., she reported the information to a Dekalb County police officer, who told her that detectives would get back to her. Additionally, the officer “warned her not to let her anger get the best of her and not to try to get revenge,” the release states.
But hours later, authorities said Harris drove a large group of people to an apartment complex to confront Harley. Harris and three of the people she brought with her were armed with handguns, prosecutors said.
According to authorities, Harris told her daughter to point out Harley’s apartment. Harris then knocked on the door, the group following her. Prosecutors said Harley did not open the door, but instead approached from the side of the apartment building to check who was there. That’s when Harris and the rest of the group chased Harley, who managed to make it back inside his apartment through the back door.
“As soon as Harley shut the door, someone in the group outside opened fire, striking Harley in the chest,” prosecutors said in the release. “Harley’s brother, who was inside the apartment, fired back in an effort to protect himself and five of his younger siblings who were just feet away inside the apartment.”
Juan Newkirk, 19, who was part of the group that had come to the apartment complex with Harris, was struck and killed in the shooting, authorities said.
After being found guilty, Harris was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole, plus five years, prosecutors said.
According to prosecutors, two others involved in the confrontation were also charged, though their names were not shared in the release.
Additionally, Harley was charged with statutory rape, child molestation, and sexual exploitation of children, the release states. Prosecutors said his case is pending. It’s unclear if he has entered a plea or retained an attorney to speak on his behalf.

Taking armed people with you to a person's apartment to confront them about a rape is never a good situation to put yourself in.
I am not apologizing or making excuses for the POS rape dude, but once they fired a weapon they committed a felony. At that point the people in the apartment were defending him/themselves and someone died....... there is a crime there. Someone needs to be punished......she initiated the confrontation......it's her fault.
I feel for her, but damn either move smarter and don't get caught or take this time cuz you earned it.

I didn't read the story or watch the video but someone said the girl was 12. If that was the case, oh that motherfucker's dead meat. But, I'm doing it in a way so I can get away with it, because it benefits me nothing at all to be in jail for the rest of my fucking life

Man, I would be exactly like that. I got several sites I've scoped out of a body of someone who deserves to go needs to be buried.
I would have taken out a Pedo decades ago if my ex hadn't convinced me not to. Instead of doing it myself, I wrote about it in a novel I'm writing. That novel, well, the short story that preceded that novel, came in first place in a short story contest here on BGOL.
I expanded that novel to include 3 more victims, including a boss that is reminiscent of a very famous situation.
I have it all planned out, but since there are some sneaky folks on here, I can't give too many details, but the story is the truth. 1/3 of the story is already done. The killer does everything that I would do if I were in that situation.
Now, it's a lot harder now with ring doorbell cameras, but there's a way of getting around that...or so I hear lol.
