I actually think they went up there and Gayle realized the earth was flat. That's why she was looking crazy.
If you look at Emily's video, around the 18 min mark they slipped up and showed the horizon flat as a pancake out of the window, just like they did in the Felix Red Bull Balloon Jump video.
The dumb part that you guys miss, is that the curve they show (produced by wide angle lens) is way too pronounced to be the actual curve if the earth were actually a ball with a equatorial circumference of 25,900 miles.
