Bill Lee, a jazz bassist and composer who scored the early films of his son Spike Lee, wrote folk-jazz operas, led an acclaimed ensemble of bassists and was a prolific sideman for Bob Dylan, Aretha Franklin and others, died on Wednesday morning at his home in Brooklyn. He was 94.
Spike Lee confirmed the death.

I’m a lil different, I want to send best wishes happiness and congrats for having Pops around for 94 long years.

The overwhelming majority of us on the board won’t be having 90th birthday parties for the ‘rents.

I tended to like Bill Lee's Film Scoring of Spike's films more than that of Terrence Blanchard.
Lee's musical approach to Film was more understated.
Not so much Hollywood bombastic.
That's no disrespect towards Blanchard of course.
