Suggesting that vids like this offer a useful explanation for why cops are so prone to shooting black men is silly at best and disingenuous at worst.

Up North, you need a remote start to warm the car in the winter and in the South and West you need it to cool the car in the Summer.
Every year kids and pets perish in hot cars and that's even in temperate climates so just imagine a car interior that has sat in triple-digit heat all day. Not only is the interior gonna be blazing hot, but without tint, your interior is gonna fade and crack from UV damage in damn near no time flat.
I've had Limo tint on cars here in Milwaukee with no problem but I also realize that a Cop could use that as probable cause for the ole "rolling Stop and Frisk" just to see what they find. I don't hear much about the Police trippin' about tint up here unless they just absolutely wanna fuck with somebody. I've also been in some States where the assholes won't even let you pull off until you remove the tint. Now THAT is some bullshit.
The manufacturers also put a darker factory tint on vehicles destined for these regions, come to think of it. I can remember the MPs giving Soldiers a hard time over tint and the damned car came like that.
A dark tint and a sun shield are an absolute must in a lot of places.
Minnesota doesn't even allow an aftermarket dash mounted GPS or phone mount. I think that's extreme. You're right about tint on the windshield, that's not legal anywhere.

Agreed. The Cop escalated needlessly into Deadly Force because he "smelled" marijuana...FOH! And the decision to ride the side rail was his own. HE put HIMSELF at risk and attempted murder is a gross overreach.
He wasn't trying so much to kill the Cop as he was trying NOT to be killed himself. Reduce the charges to evading an Officer at most.

That's the only part that I disagree with. These Laws were written intentionally to persecute and prosecute people. The Officer PUT HIMSELF in harm's way by hanging on to the vehicle. The driver didn't try to run him over or to pin him between the vehicle and any sort of barrier. He was already shooting at him at point-blank range. He could've fired at the vehicle just as well from a distance.
Learn to read son. I specially stated I wasn't attacking him for his comment. I also specifically stated that I hate when cops use that excuse to justify being overly aggressive towards blacks.

Back when I lived in NY, I used to get stopped a few times, my truck, bought it used from a guy in New Hampshire, tints put on at the dealer. But in NYC, cops used to pull me over from time to time, but I used to just tell them I was "on the job" showed my ID or badge and they let me go.I know. Not once anyone pulled out a gun for a tinted window. But some of these out in the south, quick to pull the "I felt threatened". Why in the world, would anyone grab a seat belt, with a car that's running, like you have Flintstone implanted feet to stop a moving car?

People can’t have it both ways.
Officers are expected to put themselves in harms ways and take on danger. In exhange for this duty, they have additional protections under law.
People cannot say, you ought not have taken on the potential danger when they have perfect information and the benefit of knowledge post encounter.
What if the guy was a rapist / murderer / child pornographer / etc with an active arrest warrant? Cop makes no attempt to detain him - he gets away and then everyone blames the cop for being a coward and letting him easily escape.
