Boosie BadAzz is firing back at Black Greeks after he caught some heat for rocking a Kappa Alpha Psi shirt at an NBA game.
The Baton Rouge rap star found himself on the receiving end of the fiery wrath of Black Greeks after he stepped out rocking a Kappa Alpha Psi sweater. Most recently, Boosie attended an NBA game between the Atlanta Hawks and Houston Rockets in Atlanta where he snapped a few photos of himself sitting courtside. After posting them to his official Instagram page, his Greek member followers noticed that he was repping their letters Kappa Alpha Psi, even though he isn’t an affiliate of the organization.
It didn’t take long for the comments section to pile up as members of various Greek fraternities and sororities popped onto his page demanding Boosie take the gear off. Although some users joked that Boosie should be considered an honorary member of the fraternity given the fact that Kappas have been strolling to his rap classic, “Wipe Me Down,” for years.
“These same n***as be pushing women off the dance floor when ‘Wipe Me Down’ come on,” one fan clapped back at his critics. “He should be a damn honorary member.”
“He gave them Wipe Me Down! It’s an even trade,” another user opined.
“As long as they dancing to ‘Wipe Me Down,’ he can wear this s**t,” a third person declared.
It seems Boosie caught wind of the Kappas’ concern and swiftly issued a response shortly after, which was obtained by The Shade Room.
“I was in the mall looking for red [and] saw the sweater [and] it was hard. Yes, I knew it was a Kappa sweater. I thought I would get love from wearing it not hate,” he explained of his decision to rock the letters. “Calm y'all a** down. I was just getting fresh. #leavemealone.”
Later on Thursday (Jan. 9), Boosie popped up on Instagram Live where he issued one decree: he would stop wearing Kappa letters on the condition they teach him how to do their stroll.
“Y’all gotta show me how to do the Kappa dance. That’s a deal. I won’t wear it no more,” he said. “Everything I pull up, Kappas strolling to ‘Wipe Me Down.’”
