President Donald Trump granted a blanket pardon Monday evening to virtually all Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot defendants and commuted the sentences of the remaining 14 - a sweeping move that gives some form of clemency to all those charged or convicted in the riot.

Henry “Enrique” Tarrio, the former leader of the Proud Boys who is serving the longest sentence among all Jan. 6 cases, is being released from federal prison tonight, his lawyer confirmed.
Nayib Hassan said his client, sentenced to 22 years for seditious conspiracy for leading his far-right group’s plotting to battle police and keep Trump in office after the 2020 election, has been told he is being processed for release by the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Hassan said he could not confirm if Tarrio was receiving a full pardon erasing his crime, or a commutation of time served, about 34 months.
The release of Tarrio, perhaps the most notorious figure to face prosecution for the Capitol breach, would be a strong sign that Trump will grant some form of clemency to virtually all defendants.
