As far as I'm concerned it's just white people, who really don't give a shit about black people, fighting other white people over territory. It was a stupid mandate in the first place.

Canadian truckers often go through the United States on cross country runs. Most of the time they don't even leave their cabs. It's also an essential service that doesn't have much potential for infection.

Yet the feds freaked out over Omicron and decided to put in a "get jabbed or quarantine" mandate even as the death rate was falling and Canada was going through an even worse supply chain crisis than the United States.

It was an overreaction to a minor risk.

And yes, the Canadian government has long tried to paint anti-vaccine/mandate protesters as racists, misogynists, and so forth when it's often not true. People of all political stripes are involved in this protest.

However, there have been at least a few American alt-right groups giving support and money behind the scenes. Canada already has some very strict anti-hate crime laws, especially when it comes to outsiders so it's only natural they would target these groups any way they can.

Ottawa is a very multicultural city, but when you look at the news every protester you see is white. In fact, based on the coverage there was more people of color storming the capital on January 6th than there is in this trucker protest.

That's very telling.

Articles like this is how the media distorts what's the truth. Saying it's whiteness why truckers are doing this. When it's just people, any people, wanting no mandates. Many of the truckers are vaxxed, but forcing mandates is tyrannical and just don't work.

That is a big part of Russia's strategy, tanking western financial markets. Its retaliation for all the economic and financial sanctions that have been imposed on their country by the US and other western nations.

The truckers protest is comparable to a second amendment protest in the United States.

Suppose a group of mostly white California gun owners decided to block the streets of Sacramento to advocate for open carry laws. The proud boys get wind of this and start sending money and support to the protesters.

That doesn't mean that every person at the protest is a white supremacist. It doesn't mean that every person who agrees with the issue is a white supremacist. Plenty of black self defense organizations advocate for open carry too.

However, the government has a vested interest to clear their streets and remove that proud boy influence from their city.

Same thing applies here. There are plenty of non-white Canadians against the mandates for one reason or another. It's a race neutral issue. However, it's also a cause champion by the far right and they will gladly use this as a chance to extend their reach.

That's what the government is trying to stop. And they are more than right to do it. They can't allow the same people who stormed the capital on January 6th to support a protest outside of their own parliament building.
