Leather Rose

This was a damn good smoke....shit was smooth..and light. Medium and full bodied fans may not like it. It burned mostly all the way through. Just had to retouch it once.It gave me that light buzz I needed to start my day off right. The artwork on the band is nice I see why everyone raves about it.Most of my favorite cigars have some strength to it but if you want a cigar that's *Light* this is it.Quite a few online sites have this on back order.Grab one if you can tolerate the sweetness of the wrapper!!! Flame on !!!!!

SOUTHERN DRAW ADDS TWO SIZES TO JACOBS LADDER BRIMSTONE

A pair of new vitolas are being added to Southern Draw’s Jacobs Ladder Brimstone line this month, one of which is a single store exclusive, while the other will be notable for its distinctive size.
The first new vitola is Oblivion, a 5 x 58 perfecto that will head to Cigar Federation, and comes with an amped up blend. “We have substituted the filler combination with stronger than the original ligero tobaccos, a truly full bodied blend for those demanding palates,” said said Ethan “Jacob” Holt, the namesake of the blend, via a press release. “For those that smoke this cigar, the name will almost certainly be justified,” he added.
The first batch will be limited to 4,000 cigars, priced at $49.95 per five-pack, with sales slated to start on Monday, Oct. 19.
The second new size is Un Presidente, a 9 x 48 gran corona that is often referred to as the “A” vitola, though the traditional Cuban “A” vitola is a measures 9 1/4 x 47. While the cigar is scheduled to be released just days before the election, the company says it is not a political statement, but simply a coincidence that it is coming out ahead of the vote on the United States’ next president. Rather, the cigar is named as a tribute to Cuban cigars of similar sizes.
It will be available to all retailers, though will be limited to four annual releases of 16,000 cigars, each packed in a handmade wooden cigar box and then packed into five-count wooden trays. Additionally, each cigar received 10 months of aging to deliver what the company said is a slight mellowing of the blend.
It has an MSRP of $15 per cigar and $75 for a five-count tray. The company will also be offering 10-count bundles priced at $150. Shipping of Un Presidente is scheduled to begin on Nov. 1.
“Consumers have now been enjoying the bold but approachable Jacobs Ladder blend for years, but we have developed two new ways of celebrating the triple-ligero Brimstone version after a gracious reception of the 2019 Brimstone release,” said Ethan Holt. “We decided we should make those looking for an ‘overproof’ or stronger than normal smoking experience, a size that truly demonstrates the predominantly bold flavors and aromas of this blend,” he added.
The Jacobs Ladder blend uses a Pennsylvania broadleaf maduro wrapper and binder, while the filler is made of Nicaraguan ligero tobaccos. It is produced at Tabacalera AJ Fernandez Cigars de Nicaragua.

Tabernacle Adding David and Goliath Perfectos

Oct 9, 2020 | By Andrew Nagy
Photos/Foundation Cigar Co.
It may be hard to believe, but Connecticut was once home to a thriving cigar industry that produced millions of smokes, many of them perfectos. To honor that bit of history, native Connecticuter and Foundation Cigar Co. owner Nick Melillo is adding two perfectos to Tabernacle, his biblically themed line.
“Anyone who has smoked Connecticut cigar brands of old knows the perfecto is a classic size,” said Melillo. “Most of the Connecticut cigars sold back in the day, we’re talking the ’40s and ’50s, were perfectos. F.D. Grave & Son, Topper … all those guys had a perfecto.”
And now so will Tabernacle, as the two new perfectos known as David and Goliath begin heading to shops soon. David measures 5 inches by 54 ring gauge, while Goliath is a bit fatter at 5 by 58. Both shapes will come packed in 25-count, slide lid boxes. David will carry a retail price of $12, while Goliath will cost $14 per cigar.
The new sizes feature the same blend as the other Tabernacle sizes: dark, Connecticut broadleaf wrapper covering a Mexican San Andrés binder and filler leaf from Honduras and Nicaragua, including a leaf from La Soledad, a notable farm owned by cigar maven A.J. Fernandez.
Like the rest of the Tabernacle line, the new perfectos were also rolled at Fernandez’s factory in Nicaragua.
“It’s a great pleasure and honor working with A.J.,” said Melillo. “We are almost the same age, and we started around the same time. It’s been a really great, easy transition. I do all the selection and purchasing in the Connecticut Valley, and he’s done an amazing job fermenting the broadleaf.”
In a March 7, 2017 vertical brand tasting in Cigar Insider, The Tabernacle line averaged 89.5 points, with four sizes receiving scores of 90 points.

Yeah. I had a few those in 2 of the ring gages they have and the smallest one was way better than the next size one. I really wasn’t impressed because of the price being around $14.00 a stick. I don’t know. Tabernacle don’t do it for me anymore. I just find myself going back to the RoMa craft Cromagnon line. I only really enjoy those and Jaime Garcia Super Gordo (6x66 belicoso). I probably should let them sit in my humidor for a week when I buy them from my local B&M.

I do like the Tabernacle Havana seed cigar. Other than that. That’s all I really enjoy.

Roma Craft 1794 Whisky Rebellion's Intemperance Tarred and Feathered

Good cigar. See my earlier post. Another thing I found with the RoMa Craft Cro-Magnon line is that the Connecticut broadleaf wrapper is the winner. The smaller the ring gauge the better. That’s only in the Cromagnon line. I use to smoke the whole lineup from the Candela (green) to the Whiskey Rebellion depending on the time of day. The one thing why I am a big fan of RoMa craft is because they generally use the same binder and filler through all of their lines. They just change out the wrapper. From that, I came to the conclusion that you can’t go wrong with any of RoMa Craft’s cigars. The Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper (light wrapper) is outstanding! And that can be smoked as the first cigar of the day. It has some oomph, but the Connecticut wrapper mellows it out. The Candela wrapper does the same. I would advise anyone to give them a try. If you’re a novice get the Candela or the Connecticut wrapper (light) cigar and work your way up. You will not be disappointed. I am a big fan of RoMa Craft as you can tell. Silver ashes...

Edit: I have a few boxes of the Cromagnon cigar. They’re all different sizes. I told myself I wouldn’t smoke another one today. Well, writing this little review has lead me to change my decision and smoke another. Damn it! Silver ashes...

Yes! I love these. Especially in this bellicoso size. These are so tasty. And I didn’t re-up these in my humidor. Fuck! I will tomorrow. That’s the other cigar I enjoy at the moment besides the RoMa Cromagnon, Jaime Garcia Especial Reserva Super Gordo. You have an outstanding palate, sir!
