Conversation between Marshawn, Maher, and Frank is a shining example of the disconnect

I thought this was perfect example of the biggest problems the country has when it comes to politics - communication.
The reason the poor and lower middle class don't get on the voting train is the same reason that the democrats can't unify their base. Its also s the same reason that politicians who claim to be trying to help can't get support.
This disconnect was a great example.

We need to stop celebrating not being informed.

He is a powerful POWERFUL young man... and a leader.

He chooses to separate himself and that's his business.

There's a huge disconnect...

Schools need to do better, parents need to do better, politicians need to do better.

I ride with Lynch man, HARD. But the Maher show, is simply not the best environment for the work he actually completes. Kaepernick stated he does not vote either. It's a REACTION.

Some folks do local organizing, glassworks events, some do politics. We need em both, but I do hear and feel why some people say fuck voting, if I am still hurting year after year.

I vote, but shit it hurts me to know that Lynch speaks to soooo many real people, and his voice will dictate to more than a few of them , to do as he does. Not vote.

People have to tried to reach him, but too many get disillusioned by one cycle, stay home and Oakland gets more and more white politicians and new gentrifiers.

I watched the HBO broadcast and now the clip above.
Marshawn's comments were like a lot of people who don't vote but can't articulate their frustrations.
He's in a position to do good things for many people in many communities, but like they said, it's short term happiness.
Barney tied to explain that not all pols are evil with, examples in Oakland & Cali he may relate to.
But a pol is a pol; they have to fund raise and maybe they hit him up. He mentioned they don't show up for him unless there's a check.

Plus being on TV there was a little restraint. That's a good thing because it coulda got ugly if he felt the need to defend not voting.
There was a segment earlier where he talked about taking pics only with women & kids.
He said the men "seem to be clout chasers; wanna put their arms around you, touch all on you-put their face next to you."
I wonder if he knew Barney was down with the blarney!!??

Imagine if he ran for office and actually connected his actions with policy......

policy rules all this shit. But far too often not voting is the mantra.

Marshawn is just a strait up real nigga period. He puts in work and doesn’t talk he acts. Nothing but respect from me for him. You’ll see him all over Oakland alone and he will have a conversation with you like y’all been homies for years

Politicians work hard enough just to get reelected and to put money in their pocket. Marshawn is always helping out folks, and if one of those good politicians would stop being afraid of PR nightmares, they could actually do something positive.

oh Jesus Christ. this nigga on that don't vote shit.
So why is it that we're voting and Marshawn is able to say,
they way Oakland was back in the day,
is the same way now.
We know how these cacs work.
If an area has now value to them,
they're not gonna build/change shit.

In a way, voting don't do shit if you not helping the people in need.
(I am a voter btw)

In Oakland as in most large cities, 'minorities' out number CACs but NEVER will at the polling station

CACs sit in every seat of power because they are allowed to. The make policies That benefit themselves and toss crumbs to black n brown folks. They allocate funds to build white wealth

All while we sit on the side and complain....

Ive lived in Oakland for 36 of 38 years of.life. been to city counsel meetings... been to school board meetings... sadly black folks show up during tragedy but never on real.shit

Where does he live?
Do you know how he spends his time?
How about where HE chose to put HIS businesses?

Do you know anything about him other than he's black and therefore untrustworthy and by nature a criminal and liar?
Who said anything about being untrustworthy , criminal? Or a liAr?

No I don't know him Personally but I know he doesn't LIVE in "the community".

Since you asked , HERES where he lives.

Nothing wrong with that. All I said he doesnt live there.

I don't even fully disagree with him on politics. It's just that he is more driven by emotion than anything else. If he really cares, he could spend time listening and learning, rather than showing up on a national platform and showing his ignorance. I don't know.why he even agreed to be on that show if THATS what he came to say. Soon as they pressed him all he could do was start scratching his arm like a child.

My take away was this.
Notice when Marshawn said at the 9:12 mark. "We're in the same condition then that we are in now"
Crickets....

That's where the disconnects comes from rather ya'll want to acknowledge it or not.

I promise you will come out of.this looking dumber than usual.

If you know something you should just say it. That's his home. You telling me he has another home, i guess it would have to be "in the community" for your riddle to make sense. So is it?

As far as your questions.

I showed you where he lives.
I never claimed to know anything about his time Or his businesses. Him answering the questions live and direct showed holes in whatever you're gonna say anyway

What I'm saying is you know nothing but are quick to condemn

But that's your game... defending CACs condemning Black folks.

I didn't condemn him you're just adding in dumb shit. I said he doesn't live there. That's it. That's the truth. And I guess since you ain't filling me in on where he "really lives" then we're clear. I was right. He doesn't live there. As I said before, there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. He earned his money he can love where he wants

But don't go on a political show just to spout nonsense. Could've just stayed home.

Now here's questions for you.

Do YOU know where he lives?
How he spends his time ? ( Beyond the turkey giveaway he bragged about. We get that. Cool)
And tell me about his businesses. Then I can applaud him more. He just didn't rep himself well on the show. You can paint a better picture than what we just saw.

He's 100% correct. The inner cities in America, as they pertain to black ppl, are literally the same/if not worse than they were 50-60 years ago. The major difference is a select few blks moved to the surburbs and raised their children to do the same. As a community, we haven't been on the same page and in the same communites since the 60s.

Voting without economic power gets us in the same position again and again. That's why we see these white boys smirking and jeering at the native american elder in DC. Them kids in HIGH SCHOOL and they know the status quo will remain to benefit them for them and the next generation.

Politicians only act like they care what's going on in the hoods when it's election time, but after the muthafuckas get in office, it's like "where ya'll at, where's our kickback?"

And then we get nothing, and shit just gets worse and then people wonder why people in those situations get discouraged from voting.

I disagree with Marshawn. You have to be your own self advocate, if you are poor and there are programs out there to help people like you, You have to put in the work and research and find them, no one is going to hold your hand and spoon feed you.

Just cuz I can't beat his ass don't mean what I said ain't true. Notice how in a CIVILIZED setting where being able to beat someones ass isn't the end all, he cowered to Bill Maher.
