Covid regrets

Everything was optics with that dude, which is the primary reason why I think he is a poor leader. Leaders care about accomplishing a goal, not setting up photo opportunities so fans can cheer.

Good leaders use photo ops all the time. If your taxes went up and daily commute got longer because the mayor was putting in a new road a picture of him cutting the ribbon on this road is a reminder that your sacrifice had purpose.

The problem with Trump is that his photo ops were horribly staged and, like you said, everything about him was optics. Everybody knows he didn't brave a murderous crowd to cross Lafayette square and get to his church. The police brutalized innocent people to clear a path and pepper sprayed a pastor who worked in the building. We also know that Trump knew almost nothing about the Bible and was not the least bit religious. There was no substance behind the image.

That said, maybe 50 or 100 years from now those finer details will be lost in history and everybody will look at him as some courageous figure. God help us all of that happens.

Fair point. Photo ops for actual positive things that are in progress are inconvenient, but it's not completely awful because there is a win for the people.

There were way too many photo ops that never lead to anything with the Trump administration. The healthcare with the giant empty book during the Leslie Stahl interview, the Lafayette Square thing that was supposed to show strength(to whom, and against whom, was clearly racist), the leaders of companies coming on stage at the Whitehouse to talk only about the economy during a virus epidemic, Kim Jung-Un photo op that lead to them continuing weapons tests...and those are just off the top of my head.

I just found out that my sister has covid despite being vaxxed for work. She described it as "nothing worse than the sniffles" however my brother-in-law and their three daughters are not vaccinated. No word on whether or not they are infected or how bad it could get if they are.

I'm also not sure why the rest of the family didn't get it. Jehovah's witnesses are allowed to take vaccines, but there's still a fair amount of anti-vax sentiment in the church. Or it could just be that it's not as available in Canada as it is in the United States.

On the plus side it made my mom finally decide to get her own shots.

I used to follow this dude and his brother heavily back in the day.....I fucked with them because everything they did was heavily researched, leaned on science etc. chopped it up with them at the Arnold classic back in the day....They were behind those late 90s superbowl Bronco teams.

No matter how much money and access you have...ignorance/arrogance will take you out

Because political photographs are supposed to document a politician's achievements and noteworthy moments. A great example was the massive crowds at Barack Obama's 2008 inauguration. It not only featured the first black president but also one of if not the largest inauguration crowd in US history.

Trump's photo with Leslie Stahl would have been significant if his health care plan actually worked (and the book hadn't been blank LOL). His picture with Kim Jong-un would have been significant if he had got the dictator to disarm the nukes. If Trump had used his "legendary" negotiation skills to convince these company leaders to make groundbreaking contributions to fighting covid these pictures would also be significant.

Problem is Trump accomplished almost nothing in 4 years. That's why these photographs ring hollow.

Praying your family is safe kid.
God Bless them and speedy recovery.

Why aren't people talking about the "underlying" health conditions anymore?
Is Covid killing these people or is it, high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes etc....

doesnt matter Dead is Dead
and even more reason to if you fall into one of these groups to get the shot...instead of waiting to see, trusting your immune system or think god will save you.

It's 3am my time. Might fire up Madden 22. Probably hit the bed just when the bots leaving for work to be exposed to idiots like these 2 while they send their kids to be around their kids. :smh:

It's all fun and games until the vaccine-resistant variant hits. Biggest regret people going to have is not adapting to the new world.

So…

At one of the schools I teach at, we have an anti-mask/anti-vaxxer/conspiracy theorist medical assisting professor. This fool catches Covid and passed it along to one other faculty member, which happens to be his roommate who is vaccinated. The roommate tested positive but never had any symptoms. The anti-vaxxer fell seriously ill and was taken to the hospital twice. I was talking to the roommate and he was telling how the anti-vaxxer was planning his own death and how he expressed regret not getting the vaccine. Mind you, this professor also infected several students. According to his roommate, the anti-vaxxer will likely pull through.

However, this prompt me to go to the campus president and express how terrible this looks for our campus that our full-time medical assisting professor is an anti-vaxxer that caught Covid and passed it along to students. And even expressed regret for not getting the vaccine because his ass almost died and got scared shitless. What kind of trust does that create for our institution? It’s a terrible look. IMO, which should be grounds for dismissal.
