Damn thats messed up. I would think that if someone had the knowledge to be successful that if they hit rock bottom they would be able to bounce back to some degree... and also, its sad that if a family member don't take you in, just at least to get you on your feet.
But I work with people in mental health. And a lot of times (homeless folks) hit a sense of depression and turn to drugs. Thats where the shit hits the fan for some folks.

Or he’s trying to make it seem like living on the street is a personal point of view, meaning a POV of happiness. By doing that shit he’s never gonna get out of his situation.
You can use the homeless shelter as a stepping stone to pick your self up and back on your feet.
