Its been a busy year or so for Kelis as far as being in the media spotlight. Her divorce from rapper Nas has taken more twists and turns than a trip thru a corn maze in autumn. Things have gotten down right ugly between the two parties and a lot of fans had begun accusing Kelis of just being money-hungry and attempting to suck Nas' bank account dry.

With a new deal under Interscope and all the publicity, the table was set for a big return for the woman that brought about hits such as 'Bossy' and ''Milkshake''. Well it didnt happen. She debuted this week at number 46 on the Billboard albums chart selling 7800 copies of her new album 'Fleshtone'. Did fans think she was set to get more than enough money from her ex-husband and didnt feel he needed the support? Share your thoughts on this monumental flop!

I didn't even know she was dropping an album, but I guess that's why I've been seeing her a lot lately... 7600 huh? I guess that's why she can't pay her rent and needs Nas

I used to be a fan of Kelis until that whole Divorce shit happened, and her kicking Nas out the delivery room so he couldnt see the birth of his child.

I will purposely bootleg any album released by that chick, and pass it on to any and everyone who would like a copy.

my review of the album......

It’s been an interesting last couple of years for Kelis, with the birth of her first child, and the messy divorce to legendary rapper, Nas not too long after. Perhaps getting back into the studio served as therapy for Kelis, and out of that we have, “Fleshtone”. This is her first album in four years, after the disappointing, “Kelis Was Here”. Completely abandoning her urban roots, on this album Kelis tries her hand in the world of Electronic club music. With well regarded Electronic producers like, David Guetta, it should be a slam dunk, right? Not even close. Kelis’ voice does not suit Electronic music at all. She’s never had the strongest voice in the first place, but it’s painfully apparent on this album. Her dry delivery makes you want to give the lady a Luden’s, and call it a day. Now, let’s talk production. It’s typical, Euro-trash, “Night at the Roxbury”, fodder that could have been made ten years ago. Dance music is supposed to make you want to dance, not fall asleep. At only 9 songs, I thought, well maybe she’s going for quality over quantity. Now, I think she just ran out of ideas. I expected much more coming from an artist who had been so creative in the past (I‘ve always felt her first 3 albums were terribly underrated). “Fleshtone” sounds like someone was just trying to get paid, and this album will probably do good overseas or on the Jersey Shore, but to everyone else, it will just sound like a bunch of noise. This is by far one of the worst dance albums I have ever heard. Will the old Kelis please come back.

Kelis don't give a fuck about album sales.
She's on the Nas Income Supplement Program for the next 18 years.

singer/songwriter Kelis has signed to Interscope Records through will.i.am Music Group.

"I love that I am now a new part of the Interscope family," Kelis said in a statement. "2010 is around the corner and I can't wait to put out new music and spend time with real music fans on tour again."

Kelis' last label deal was with Jive Records, but she was reportedly dropped in late 2007.

I would've said Megavelli (Cormega) but he seems to be doin' pretty well nowadays. :cool:
