Starski died of a heart attack in Las Vegas on February 8, 2018, at the age of 57, while moving speakers out of storage into his apartment.

On August 24, 2018, founding member of the Geto Boys DJ Ready Red (Collins Leysath) died at the age of 53, from an apparent heart attack.

DJ Crazy Toones, who got his start with his brother WC and Coolio in WC & The Maad Circle in the early-t0-mid ’90s, on 9 January 2017, DJ Crazy Toones reportedly died of a heart attack. He was 45.

Gregory Edward Jacobs (August 25, 1963 – April 22, 2021), known professionally as Shock G (and his alter ego Humpty Hump), was an American rapper who was best known as the lead vocalist of the hip hop group Digital Underground.
On April 22, 2021, Shock G was found dead in a Tampa, Florida, hotel room. No evidence of foul play was found.
On June 10, 2021, the Hillsborough County Medical Examiner announced that Shock G died from an accidental drug overdose.

Vincent Edwards (September 9, 1969 – January 12, 2022) professionally known by his stage name CPO Boss Hogg, was an American rapper from Compton, California. He began his career as a founding member of the hip hop group Capital Punishment Organization in 1989 under the moniker Lil' Nation. In April 2010, Edwards suffered a heart attack.[5] Edwards died on January 12, 2022, at the age of 52.

New Orleans-based rapper known to his fans as Tre-8 died after a car accident in Algiers May 28th, 2011. Tre-8 whose real name was Walter McCallon, 37, died in a hospital after the accident on Tullis and Woodland drives. His daughter, two nieces, a nephew and the mother of his children were in the car with him at the time, and are all in the hospital, Fischer said.

Andrew Jordan (September 24, 1971 – June 4, 2022), better known as Skull Duggery, was an American rapper best known for his time spent with Master P's No Limit Records in the late 1990s. While at a friend's Los Angeles house on September 28, 2022, Coolio was discovered unresponsive on a bathroom floor. He was pronounced dead by first responders. He was 59 years old at the time of his death. Police have opened an investigation into his death, though foul play is not suspected, and Coolio's manager stated he appeared to have suffered a cardiac arrest.
