According to a report by
USA TODAY's Brent Schrotenboer, Deion Sanders and the Colorado football program received what is essentially a slap on the wrist for 11 NCAA violations.
Schrotenboer iterated that these are in fact "minor" violations, and the fact that the program reported them makes a huge difference. It was also revealed that none of them will have serious consequences, and that this is a commonality in college football with programs like Ohio State and Alabama each running into something like this in past seasons.
"The University of Colorado Boulder Athletic Department is committed to complying with NCAA regulations and will continue to educate our coaches, student-athletes, and staff to ensure that we remain in compliance, "the statement said. "We take all infractions seriously, regardless of the severity, and in these specific cases, these minor infractions were all self-reported to the NCAA."
As for the violations that were committed, it spanned from Deion Sanders being on Instagram Live with a recruit, players not officially in the transfer portal partaking in a postgraduate camp, interacting with the team during voluntary activities, posing for a picture with Cormani McClain as a recruit who was in uniform and in a "athletic stance" on the field. Others included an unsanctioned yoga instructor leading a workout putting them over a threshold for strength coaches.
