Dwane Casey fired by Toronto

You shouldn’t be “Surprised”. Raptors had the best record in the east two years in a row and the coach/team didn’t make any adjustments to win at least one game.

It’s not all his fault and it sucks, but it was time
Having the best record in the East in the regular season means nothing come playoff time. The Atlanta Hawks had the best record in the East a few years back and got swept by the Cavs. Plus LeBron has dominated the East and not just dominated the Raptors.

The team he has a problem beating is a team with Lebron. If you want him gone then you need to hire a better coach. My question is who are you going to hire that will get you over the hump to beat Lebron? Even the golden boy Brad Stevens hasn't beat Lebron yet.

The best thing they could have done was just fine tune and get ready for next season. Every player has had a major injury in their career causing them to lose some skill except Lebron. Just wait it out.
The Utah Jazz went years without making it to the finals before they final broke through and still got beat by Jordan.

The problem is Toronto has good players but acting like they are superstar players. Why blame the coach? Demar and Kyle are players who need to be with a superstar to win. Some idiot up there thinks they are superstars. :smh:
Nobody has ever viewed Kyle Lowry or DeMar Derozan as superstars. They are superstars on the Raptors cause they are the two best players on the team. But they are not overall NBA superstars.

Having the “Coach of the Year” and the best record in the east did mean something to the Raptors management.

Apparently it meant a lot. They can’t change the players because no one wants their contracts so...

Regular season don't mean shit unless you win in the playoffs. The Atlanta Hawks former coach had a good regular season record but was shitty in the playoffs and he got fired. These NBA owners want to see what you do in the playoffs that's what you are judged from.

The former Atlanta Hawks coach won coach of the year also and has since been fired. The owners care about how you perform in the playoffs. The Raptors should have atleast put up a fight against Cleveland but they just layed down and let LeBron and the Cavs destroy them.

Maybe if he'd won one game against the Cavs. The way these owners are today, you're expected to win. Especially when you win your division.
He won games and his players still lost it. They big man couldn't hit layups to save their life in that game 1.

The players have to play and the coach has to coach. The coach’s game plan failed against the same team two years in a row.

Couldn’t win a single game? A lower seeded team took the Cavs to 7 games.

Something had to change.

The same thing would most likely happen next year if Lebron is still on Cleveland.

I still trying to figure out how they had two game winning shot attempts in the course of one game in that series; and Fred Van Fleet took both of them.

Right. Like how the coach going to launch the winning shot, he got his dudes out there and why these mf disappear in last three games? They get paid millions and allstars, the fuck man?

Max may have a point.

Yeah I've always said this. Even though I love my Raptors and love that they represent my hometown Toronto, I really think we have alot of disadvantages that the United States teams don't have as far as geographical location and not being a attractive spot for free agents to want to come cause of tax issues and other circumstances. I think eventually the Raptors should think about moving out of Toronto just like Vancouver moved to Memphis. I think Raptors should move to either Louisville, St. Louis or Pittsburgh.

Until they get some heart in that backcourt, it won't matter until Lebron leaves the East....shit, they did Casey a favor. Get that Bucks job, buddy...

That press conference he had where he agreed with the reporter that the Raptors don't stand a chance until LeBron ages out is what probably got him canned.

Even if you feel that way you can't get up there and say it!

He basically said all the greats age out eventually and when he does, they will be there to pick up the scraps.

I never said I wanted them to leave idiot. I said we have a disadvantage than the other teams in America. I said the Raptors should think about moving if things do change and if players don't want to come to the team because of geographical issues.

Didnt realize he had been there so long. Nearly 60 wins with that roster featuring a franchise player that cant shoot is impressive. But i can see them wanting a change of voice after 7 seasons. Just not sure they gonna find someone to do better with that roster. Actually im certain they wont.
Former Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer is a better coach. I hope he gets the Raptors job.

Better at what? Getting swept by LaBron? No doubt. He took a 60 game team to the alter of King James and got that broom werk.
That Cavs team with Kyrie and LeBron was much better than that Hawks 60 win team. Joe Johnson was no match for LeBron. And Joe Johnson was the Hawks best player.
