that was the very first dream team - It was the first year US Olympic Assoc allowed NBA players on to the US Olympic team... all the previous years the olympic teams were made of the best college players of the time. As a compromise with the NCAA and a concession for robbing college players of the chance to shine, they allowed 1 college player on the squad (to carry the bags)

Now with the one and dones...NCAA ball is weaker,as is the NBA.

He's a CAC so he peaked physically at 20... But I'll take 13 years and one all star appearance in the nba

If the Euro game was around the nba in the 90s he may have had a better career

I think i'm too young to really know how much of a piece of shit Christian Laettner was lol. Like growing up, I always heard a guy like Bill Lambeer was a piece of shit and a cac you'd hate on the court.

I only know him from the NBA.....I didn't know he was this hated. I do miss that though. Who the fuck can you really hate like this in the NBA or collegfe now?

I remember him being decent in the NBA. Not nearly as good as the two guys drafted ahead of him but a solid year. Probably would've got more All Star Appearances if he didnt' play in the greatest era of big men lol. He stood no chance. :lol:

Rosenberg grew up in and went to University of Maryland....

..yo, Maryland hated Duke... I can't even tell you how real that shit was.

My cousin went to Maryland and broke it down for me.

University of Maryland is right on the DC border. Like 4 miles from DC ... so they really get compared to all the DC universities moreso then other schools in Maryland, and they have a chip on their shoulder b.

Cause DC being what DC is, they there's like 3 super-elitist, private university within 15-20 minutes of Maryland ... Georgetown, American University, and George Washington University... and they always snubbing they nose at Maryland.

..but they don't play them ... so what happens is Duke, being in that caliber, gets to take all that pent up hate cause Duke represents the hate they get from the other three.

... dog, those MD / Duke games be vicious... Cousin told me one game they played at Maryland, Carlos Boozer's mother traveled and was cheering for her son. Someone took a glass bottle and wrapped it up in the school newspaper, then bonged Carlos Boozer's mother in the head. :eek::smh:

Lattener had sort of a Kevin Love kinda game. He wasn't physically dominate but he knew how to score, how to play off the blocks and didn't
care about scrumming.

but like you said, he got to NBA and face the last dominate era of bigs in the NBA. he didn't have the raw strength to last...

If he played today, he would be game though. Rules changes in the NBA make don't allow as much banging.

I remember whenever duke came to town to play MD. the entire crowd would chant " F__You JJ (at JJ redick).. yes they REALLY hate duke.

:yes: Watching it made me realize how little I care about the NCAA. I just can't watch a lot of college basketball now. The pg play is so bad that I get frustrated.
Seeing this doc coming after the deaths of Dean Smith and Jerry Tarkanian has made me nostalgic.

It's hard argument to legitimately make that the college player of the year, coming off 4 great years made the team because he's White.
