Nolan warned, not suspended by ESPN.
On a recent episode of Viceland's "Desus & Mero," ESPN's Katie Nolan referred to President Trump as "a fucking stupid person," a comment which was later deemed inappropriate by ESPN. However, a rep for the network has told TMZ Sports that Nolan was merely warned for her actions and will not face a suspension.

Nolan's comments came during a discussion about hand gestures associated with white supremacists. Nolan, who joined ESPN in October after four years at Fox Sports, said Trump uses the thumbs-up emoji simply because he's "a fucking stupid person" but the f-bomb was bleeped out.

As a result, ESPN spoke with Nolan about her remarks.

Per TMZ,

"We have looked into the totality of Nolan’s comments, they were inappropriate and we have addressed it with her," the rep said.

You can check out Katie Nolan's interview with Desus & Mero below, at the 13:30 mark is when they’re talking about Trump.

Back in October, ESPN's Jemele Hill was suspended for two weeks for "a second violation of ESPN's social media guidelines," after she criticizes President Trump, as well as Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, in a series of tweets.

Hill received backlash for the tweets in which she called Trump a white supremacist who surrounds himself with other white supremacists, and the most offensive president of her lifetime. At the time, ESPN released a statement saying Hill's comments did not represent the position of the company.

this isn't an issue until she does it more than once......

granted, it could be said that based on the precedent Jemele set, it should be zero tolerance across the company.

Especially after they reportedly had some big meeting about how the "talent" should conduct themselves as far as making political comments and what not.

It only zero tolerance if the explicitly state there will be zero tolerance. Not sure they've stated that officially so...

This is a non story because a non BLACK said it! It'll never get clicks or splash headlines like a black name would

True but I thought all reporters and commentators were put on notice by the higher ups. That is why it people are looking sideways at this. What happened to zero tolerance?
We both know what happened to zero tolerance

Lol someone criticizes Trump and BGOL gets mad?

Whats going on here?

No we are mad because Jemele a black woman got bullied by Trump. Yet we see a white woman receive a get out of jail card free because it was only her first offense. Sure Jemele was a repeat offender but even after her first incident she was bullied. This is not about someone being critical of Trump it was about how two women get different gloves used.

Wait, are you mad at Trump's response or at ESPN's response?

Cause you either saying you want Trump to bully her too (which is bad) or you saying you ESPN to suspend her too (which is against their own policy, so also bad).

This thread aint making sense fam.

My point is that there is an appearance by the upper management of ESPN that there is no consistency in how discipline is handled. Furthermore if it was against ESPN's policy as you say then Jemele never should've been suspended in the first place if you are using that argument. They had a meeting about this so once again what happened to enforcing policy?

You do know that there are other people who knew what their work place policy was and got terminated after breaking it the very first time. These people did not get a warning, but a lily white lady gets one despite the fact it was a decease and desist mandate. What we do know is the white woman was handled with kiddie gloves, yet Jemele got bullied and race based death threats.

If you want to overlook how two women were treated vastly differently for doing the same thing with a policy put in place, then that is on you and I can see why it does not compute with you. Forget about the Trump factor and just focus on the policy aspect and discipline and it should start making sense. If it does not then you are being very disingenuous.

Mofokrs don't realize they take shit from credible complaints to whining and zero credibility when they omit facts to make things comparable.

Ok, lets just focus on the discipline aspect.

ESPN never stated that they changed their policy AFAIK even though they had that meeting with their employees.

So the facts are, unless you can show me that ESPN changed their discipline policy, first offence gets you a warning.

That was true for Jemele and now its true for this chick. (Who i never heard of before).

So what vastly different disciplinary treatment are you specificaly talking about?

You brought up the fact that they can fire you as a first time offender as well. Are you saying you wanted Jemele and now this chick to be fired on the spot too?

This reminds me of something that happened this season.

A kid on my nephews youth football team was killed and they wanted to do a tribute to him at their next game..he was a good kid and a good student and an innocent bystander.

Since the game was at a neutral field the opponent said they wanted to also pay tribute to one of their players killed earlier in the season...

They didn't see the difference in that their player was killed while committing and armed home invasion

The case with Jemele is YES she did get a warning. No one is disputing that. However before Jemele's incidents there was no policy in place. The white chick on the other hand had a policy and place and she still went against it. All people are saying is why is she getting a warning despite a policy being in place? No one answered that question.
