Man, NC did not show these kats enough love. 9th was from Winston Salem and I couldn't get kats from WSSU on them for nothing! Shit use to piss me off.

Mofo was all about the ATL music during 2003 and up. No home love.

I went to Boulder, CACarodo for an internship at NOAA in 2010. There was this pizzeria place I went to on the late night that was next to the dorm I was staying in.

They was bumping Little Brother hard. I ask them what they know about Little Brother. He told me that they come through often. Boulder gave them a lot of love. That was so disappointing to hear considering these kats was from my home state and NC just did not fuck with them like that.

Lol. bruh who you telling?!

I need to go back there, especially this time around. I did so much hiking and smoking when I was there. I went biking all over the city too.

Plus they had some of the best restaurants there. You're right. It's a great getaway, but definitely CAC filled.

Didn't know they connected a lightrail between Boulder and Denver. Boulder was already expensive as all hell in 2012. I can't imagine now.

Little brother breaking up was a travesty

Felt like Fugees

In fact they waited way too long.

9th got too big.

No one was checking for Little Brother they way folks was asking for 9th Wonder.

I figured it would come down to that eventually, especially after 9th got featured on Jay-Z's "Black" album and soon after Beyonce's album.

Fucked up but true. I remember Phonte once posting on Okayplayer back in the day about a show they did in my hometown in NC. Said it was the worst reception they ever got, to the point that him and Pooh just had to laugh at how non-receptive the crowd was. He was like he knows they aren't big stars but that they can usually win crowds over with their on stage charm, wit & persona, but not that night. I was like damn why'd it have to be where I'm from that was the assholes, LOL

I think they were fine from Durham, Chapel Hill and east, but Greensboro, Winston Salem and Charlotte was a no go for Little Brother. NC was caught up into ATL's music.

WSSU wouldn't even consider them for any homecoming events. I remember when the Minstrel Show dropped and "Loving It" was their single and 102 Jamz finally started playing their music, but I think it was because of the lack of love.

In all honesty, Little Brother was hard to market. NC is a unique state in how "black" culture drastically changes from the Piedmont to the eastern part of the state.

Kats from the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill/Fayetteville areas tend to be more hip to East Coast hip-hop. Little Brother had much more success out there.

Kats from Greensboro/Winston/High-Point/Charlotte areas was all about that ATL music. It took J. Cole some time to get support from NC as well.

Your right, it does have a hella lot of white folks.. But, once you get past all those white folks, its smooth sailing!! Bruh, I miss those mountains!! That mountain air does something to me, it has its own scent and puts me in a relax state of mind.. Now Im getting homesick..

Yeah, the lightrail was completed in 14 or 15..

To all the kats that havent been to the rocky mountains, you gotta go there once in your life.. You will enjoy all parts of those mountains..

Damn, my bad!! I forgot this thread was about Little Brother

Damn, bruh.

Now you got me over here rethinking if I made the right life career choice. :smh:

I did not pursue this job opportunity at NOAA's Earth Systems Research Laboratory. I had a really good experience in Boulder. I had a great network of scientists I could rely on as well.

And like you mentioned, that mountain air is clean and relaxing. Dammit man! The ONLY reason I did not move to Boulder was because it was too many white people there. I let that experience go because of CACs. See what racism does to a person? :smh:

These pictures got me missing that place something serious, but I am sure if I was to go back I will be reminded why I chose not to move there. There is not enough legal weed and money that will get me to live among a high percentage of CACs ever again. Never.

Boulder Demographics
  • White: 88.0%
  • Asian: 4.7%
  • Black or African American: 0.9%
  • Native American: 0.4%
  • Pacific Islander: 0.1%
  • Other race: 3.2%
  • Two or more races: 2.6%
  • Hispanic or Latino of any race: 8.7%

Walking into a restaurant in Boulder was like

Except the white folks as less redneck and more hippie like. Liberal city, but I don't trust one bit.

One of my fav groups of all-time.

“Leftback” was complete trash but they said it was basically a contractual obligation album. Phonte’s solo joints have banged; Pooh’s were decent.

Quietly at this point in 2019 though, I’m content hearing Phonte as a singer or doing more Foreign Exchange work than I am hearing what LB will sound like without 9th.
