See,had he said that he was always down with Colin's message,but he feared that forces working against CK would use the flag/anthem as a means to sidetrack/muddle/sandbag the message and THAT's why he thought everyone should stand, he might have got less flak. That shows that you are down with the protests,but you are aware that a large segment of the fans and the a wing of the parent company that airs your games is gonna fuck you over,hard.

All he had to say is this: I think kneeling is disrespectful to the anthem/flag, based upon how I was raised. But I understand that I am privilege. I also understand that Black Americans have been mistreated and disrespected since the beginning of this country. I understand that police brutality is one of the many forms of disrespects that people of color go thru. So if Kap and others kneeling brings light and change to those that are being disrespected and mistreated on a daily basis; then I am all for him and others doing it!! Boom simple and effective and powerful; but clearly whites like Brees dont understand nor try to understand how privilege they are.....
Kneeling has always been a sign of reverence. As for the sanctity of the anthem, I could be wrong,but I think only a small segment of stadiums and arenas shut everything down-concessions,bathroom,etc. during the anthem. If they don't than they are full of shit. You can't go make the flag/anthem your deity,yet have people on line buying hot dogs,bratz or beer or taking a piss while the anthem is playing.
I feel that but clearly what he said was in his heart/head; and thats his opinion; clearly its off based and doesnt address nor deal with the real issues; but a lot of whites do that; im just saying he could have easily gave his view point and still support the cause...

I can't grasp this false narrative that kneeling is the only way to protest. It isn't. In 2014, a handful of players wrote "I can't breathe" on their practice jerseys and cleats with no punishment. They provedmwith their recent videohow effective a social media protest can be. I am pretty damn sure if a bunch of NFL stars, black and white week 1 had the intials GF, BT,AA, sewn on their jerseys or George, Aubrey, Breonna, owners would let that go, advertisers,likely wouldn't get their panties in a bunch. These players can't just lock themselves into kneeling. Let me reiterate, I stand for the anthem at sporting events, but don't sanctify either the flag or anthem. It's maybe 1-2 minutes of my time. I just have a problem with using one gun that had been known to jam on you in the past when you have a whole arsenal abailable to you.
