Robert Stevenson, a Tesla Cybertruck owner, recently revealed that GEICO is kicking out his Cybertruck from his multi-vehicle insurance policy.

In a post that was first shared on X and later reposted on Reddit, Robert writes, “@GEICO said they can no longer insure my Cybertruck.”

Robert added, “It makes no sense, as there are other, riskier cars out there. Let me know if you recommend any insurer for the truck. I have eight cars with an amazing record. I will be canceling my entire Geico policy!! Bye-bye!”

Below his post, the Cybertruck owner included the letter he received from GEICO informing him that his Cybertruck insurance policy was terminated.

Here is what the letter reads…

“2024TESLACYBERTRUCK
VIN: xxxxxxxxxxxxx
Policy Number: xxxxxxx
Dear xxxxx
We would like to thank you for choosing GEICO for your insurance needs. After a careful review of your policy records, we have determined that we are unable to continue your insurance coverage for the 2024 TESLA CYBERTRUCK.
We have taken this action for the following reason(s): We are unable to insure your 2024 TESLA CYBERTRUCK xxxxxxx because this type of vehicle doesn't meet our underwriting guidelines.
Therefore, we must notify you as follows:
ALL COVERAGE ON THE 2024 TESLA CYBERTRUCK PROVIDED BY GEICO CASUALTY COMPANY, UNDER THE ABOVE POLICY NUMBER, WILL NON-RENEW AS OF 12:01 A.M. ON xx/xx/xx.

We are able to continue coverage on the remaining vehicle(s) on your policy.
Your updated policy documents will follow shortly. We regret that circumstances require this action and urge you to obtain other coverage on the 2024 TESLA CYBERTRUCK prior to xx,xx, 2024.”
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at the number below.
Many factors are likely at play when an insurance company stops covering an individual or a vehicle.

You might think the insurance company has deemed the driver unsafe because he/she has been in a lot of accidents or for some other reason; however, in Anderson’s case, he says he has an amazing record.

More importantly, Anderson has eight vehicles. GEICO is only choosing to terminate the insurance coverage from Cybertruck and is actively pursuing renewal of his vehicle coverage for the rest.

This leaves no doubt that GEICO’s issue is directly related to the Tesla Cybertruck and not to Anderson or other factors.

As a person in the industry, I’d venture to say the average Cybertruck owner is probably well to do and has multiple policies with them. I can imagine them losing more money/business in policies with this move than they would saving on whatever cost associated with the small population of Cybertruck owners. Just my 2 cents.

Man that shit is bulletproof

Every body in the hood should get

A free cyber truck and bullet proof hoodie..

And bullet proof windows .
So everybody in the hood should, as typical, give their money to a company that gives zero fucks about us, and further enrich a racist lunatic? Fuck Elon and his cars. Those shits could he half price. Fuck-that-dude.

I'm in the industry too...we underwrite them at the moment anyway, but I can understand why it wouldn't meet UN guidelines. Although we do commercial fleets, there are certain vehicles and even certain types of businesses we will not underwrite. Bad business for the company.

It's likely more about how much damage they and their drivers are likely to cause to other people and property.

Yeah, I can speak for my company's standpoint. We don't have specific vehicle models we decline, just certain vehicle ttypes like anything over our max gross veh weight, 3 wheelers(unless it's in a state that requires us to do it). This seems shortsighted from a business standpoint based on the population that would own a Cybertruck(not many), but I don't think GEICO underwrites anything outside of auto insurance so they wouldn't be losing any other lines of business. I dunno, just speculating.

That is your expert opinion? I guess your forgot the part where most people are taking on car debt they really can't afford with those amazing 70 month loan terms.

Tesla is building their own insurance based on AI and Safety Scores. Teslas currently calculate safety scores based on actual driving. Insurance based on actual driving habits rather that risk attached to age and location will be more accurate and hopefully incentivize good driving.

You can't go out a finance a $100K vehicle with no money or a regular job. It just isn't happening. Now it even if you make a lot of money it doesn't mean you're living within you means so it's all relative, but I doubt, you're seeing Cybertrucks parked in hood or even regular neighbors so yes I can reasonably say the average Cybertruck owner isn't broke.

Ofcourse you need a job, but you can finance a vehicle where the payment is more than half your monthly pay which many people are doing.

Geico did the same with me when I owned an i8, has to do with the car valuation and their risk algorithm for covering said vehicle...:dunno:

That doesn't sound very American to me, which country is this?

They are offering a service of value to the customer and profiting from it. This relationship is the cornerstone of business. In the US and world. I dont understand your confusion.

Tell me what $100k car you can walk into a dealership and have a bank finance on average income? Unless something is being falsified, that ain't happening legitimately.

The Most Dangerous Car Brands Tesla has the highest fatal accident rate of all car brands, followed by Kia, Buick, Dodge and Hyundai.

For those in the know, tesla has always been a fad at best, a con at worst. When you look at what would happen if everybody in 'murica suddenly had an EV the result would barely move the needle as far as the greenhouse gasses. china and india put so much C02 into the atmosphere it's ridiculous. Afrika, under the chinese invasion is a huge contributor also.

What's the bottom line? That the decades-old reichpublican campaign to make america stupid by reducing the education budget has paid off. We now have a nation of people so ignorant that they believe the barker instead of the people leaving the attraction.

Ev's are heavier cars due the weight of the batteries they carry. When they hit something with all that weight, it's going to be more damage. Makes sense Tesla is number 1 since there's so many on the road now.
