HBCU football coaches talk cost-benefit analysis of playing money games
Week 2 of the college football season saw a schedule heavy on HBCU-FBS matchups that featured all too familiar lopsided outcomes.hbcusports-com.cdn.ampproject.org
I hate em, I swear... They should schedule games against FCS "powerhouses" to try to move up the FCS ranking...
I don’t understand the logic, famI started losing interest in the FBS games after Southern played Georgia and one of our players got paralyzed on a special teams play... Grant it Georgia went above and beyond to show support and care for Devon, but the damage in my eyes was already done...
Or show you that you are about that life. No different than competing at the Sr. Bowl. The league ain't for everybody. My homie that played at FAMU said those are the games that crush niggas NFL Dreams. A lot of dudes feel hopeless afterwards
I don’t understand the logic, fam
Explain, please?
You answered your own question... But watching a player from your school get paralyzed on top of losing 48-6 is demoralizing... I'm pretty sure his teammates felt the same way... Was it worth it - to me, the answer became no... I'm glad these coaches are speaking out on it more and more, but I doubt these matchups become a thing of the past, it's a money grab... Southern got about $600,000 to play vs Georgia in 2015, the band alone was contracted for $200,000... That money does help, but not at that riskMy homie that played at FAMU said those are the games that crush niggas NFL Dreams. A lot of dudes feel hopeless afterwards

Just being honest, the collective talent at FBS programs is better than HBCU programs... Now there are HBCU players that play at a very high level, Alabama A&M has a cold QB and it's no coincidence that they don't have an FBS game scheduled... He may ball out vs a FBS, but if his undersized OLine is getting trashed by a FBS DLine, there's no way he'll shine - no time in the pocket usually means scrambling and bad throws which would lower his prospect, ultimately screwing his chances of being invited to the Senior Bowl (which barely invites HBCU talent in the first place)... If he is invited(this year), on a leveled playing field like the Senior Bowl he can truly showcase his talent... that's where he'll separate himself from the FBS QBs that participate, not competing against them...
A bit long winded, but I hope I answered your question
