The biggest issue I see with any turn is that they need the big bad guy on the show. If the father is out of the picture, who would be the villain?
Back to Tom, Dude is spineless, hen pecked, hanger on, but I actually like his character. His interactions with Greg are funny as fuck. When Greg told him that he as going to sue Greenpeace, he deadpanned "You're going to sue Greenpeace? I like your style, Greg. What are you doing next? Sue Save the Children?"

Nah money is spineless. Plenty of examples. When Shiv told him she wanted an open relationship right after getting married he caved. Can't stand up to the people that work for him. He is only tough with Greg and that only goes so far. Nevertheless his character is funny as fuck. I get at least one laugh an episode from him and Roman. Both complete dickheads though.
More and more his standing has been eroded. Shiv and her insistence on an open marriage (not to mention the cheating), the "unconscionable" prenup he signed, Shiv's willingness to make him the fall guy with the current investigation.
Tom expressed it to Kendall when he suggested that he married in so he can sit at the big table. Ken saw it as a career move, Tom corrected him saying "by falling in love with your sister"
Thats lawyer talk incase they were being recorded, they both know he married her to sit at the big table. He is even still playing the game by trying getting Shiv pregnant because if she divorces him while he is in prison he will lose his connection to the family. It seems he is reaching his breaking going though, he thought if he sacrificed himself it would give him brownie points with the big man but it seems no one gives a fuck so he is rethinking his choices.

Good episode but what is the deal with the DOJ case? At the end of last season, It seemed like there was an iron clad case and someone (or multiple) was going to jail . Logan was going to sacrifice Kendall until he flipped at the Press Conference. Now, they are saying the case they had is now falling apart because Kendall's performance during questioning? What about all of the information they already had?
