HBO execs are saying their freshman vampire series True Blood, also based on a series of novels, is developing an audience faster than The Sopranos, aka one of the most financially successful cable series in the history of TV. Michael Lombardo, HBO's chief of West Coast operations, says that The Sopranos' viewership numbers grew slowly. The big ratings jump didn't come until season two. But True Blood has fared better, with a 66 percent jump in Sunday night viewership since its premiere in September.

I dont know if I agree that the black guy Tara was talking to (Mehcad Brooks) is not real, he was recently bumped up to a more recurring role for next season, and if he is a projection, they'd have to spend a lot of time focusing MaryAnn on projecting, and here character will cause more damage than that... I just think that Tara's character is usually way more suspicious, so why now is she so trusting??

I do agree the Butler is the pig... and I hope Lafayette isn't dead, his character is hilarious.. and Jason will cause lots of trouble next season with his new affiliation.. I can't believe I have to wait until Summer.. Dammnitt!!!!!

I read Lafayette is dead. In the book 2(Living in Dallas) Sookie is supposed to be finding out who killed lafayette. She is supposed to be more involved with Eric as well. She was also poisoned by the maenad as a message to Eric.

I know I'm going to take a lot of flack for this, but Lafayette's character was one of the more interesting characters during the first season (minus the homosexual acts both implied and exhibited) and it's fucked up that he won't be back for the second season.

I heard lafeyette doesn't make it out of the first book but...can we really be sure from what we saw that he is gone? Somehow he seemed like the most complete person on the show. I don't know how but I am thinking True Blood somehow snuck into my top ten shows of all time.

Tara is the only reason I watch the show, she is soo easy on the eye with her beautiful choclate skin and that innocent girlish smile she has.

she is the only character worth caring about, lafagyette almost made me stop watching the motherfucker....

also I beleive she(tara)is so trusting of the brother is because, she wants it ALL to be true..... she even made a statement to that..

yeah her character keeps me way in the show, I also like the way she doesnt slut herself out there, and soley uses the emotion of her actin skills...

yeah I look forward to the second season of true blood, but not for the the blood.

Episode 4: Escape From Dragon House
Another killing in Bon Temps finds Jason back in custody with officers Andy and Bud. Tara gets him off the hook, but neither she nor Lafayette has the antidote to his current ailment. Urged by Gran to use her telepathic abilities to weed out the murderer and exonerate her brother, Sookie persuades Bill to take her to a Shreveport vampire bar called Fangtasia, where she impresses a dominant Nordic bloodsucker named Eric with her prescient powers. Later, Bill demonstrates his own considerable powers when an abusive patrolman stops the couple on their way home.

Episode 5: Sparks Fly Out
