On January 5, 2006, Brody confirmed speculation that he indeed was interested and very willing to play the role of The Joker in 2008's The Dark Knight. However, Christopher Nolan and Warner Bros. decided instead to cast Heath Ledger in the role. He was also in talks with Paramount to play Spock in J. J. Abrams Star Trek XI, but it ultimately went to Zachary Quinto.

Quinto had that role nailed down.

But he's not a "box office" actor anyway.

At least 5 of those films listed are EXCELLENT. Dude isn't a "commercial" type of actor. He takes whatever job interests him. Same thing he did BEFORE he got his once-in-a-lifetime role in The Pianist.

And what does kissing Halle Berry have to do with anything? He WON that night (in every way). Most Oscar winners have trouble getting equally good roles. Hilary Swank has won two Oscars, and still has to take garbage roles in order to pay the bills. Denzel hasn't had a great role in ages.

Yeah, that thread title had me like Dude is A-list and has stayed in movies. And Predators was a huge hit. He's also starring with Kurt Russel and Sharon Stone in Waco. And I heard he's playing Salvador Dali in a flick too. Dude has been successful, especially for an "artsy" actor.

There are plenty of actors who would trade a lot of their success for even one Oscar. It's a crazy business ya know? You can't really hold it against him for "missing out" on roles - it's not like he's making the decision.

If they're lucky enough to get a great role that calls for it, good for them. But there are way too many more WHITE actresses getting banged by white actors on-screen. Don't need the black ones.

If there's a script that calls for it, and the film is well made, then so be it. Not sure that Jolie is "worshipped" by anyone.

Wesley Snipes banged the hottest young white actress in the business at the time, Annabella Sciorra, in Jungle Fever. Unfortunately, the film wasn't particularly good, especially that storyline. Spike blew it.

BTW, the "worshipped" Michelle Pfeiffer was Oscar-nominated for Love Field, and she got banged by Dennis Haysbert in that film. You should pay better attention to this stuff. It's no big conspiracy. It's about getting scripts produced, and quality films made.
