Ryan Reynolds and
Blake Lively are ready to laugh at it all.
The couple, who have been mired in Lively's ongoing legal conflagration with her
It Ends With Us director and costar
Justin Baldoni, took the opportunity to poke fun at their situation during Sunday's
Saturday Night Live 50th Anniversary Special.
Reynolds raised his hand during a question and answer segment hosted by alums
Tina Fey and
Amy Poehler in the iconic Studio 8H. "How's it going?" Fey asked a smiling Reynolds, who quickly grew glum and suspicious. "Great. Why what have you heard?" he shot back, with Lively's face growing concerned as she stared up at him.

Both Fey and Poehler started shaking their heads and hands, trying desperately to move on from a subject so obviously sensitive that it couldn't even be named. "Nothing, nope," Poehler responded.
"Yeah, okay," Reynolds continued, still looking suspicious. Both Reynolds' and Lively's faces eventually relaxed, allowing the
Deadpool & Wolverine actor to get to the real business of his question. "The materials they made the coneheads with, are those edible?"
Fey responded, "Edible? No, no, and based on them being made in 1975 I'd assume that they're highly toxic."
"Okay so if somebody hypothetically took a couple of nibbles backstage and got excited, should they go to the hospital? Or should they..." Reynolds began, with Poehler cutting in to urge, "Yes, they should go the hospital right away. Good luck."

Lively was embroiled in scandal around
It Ends With Us even before the film was released in August 2024. Baldoni's hiring of a crisis management team that same month and
rumors of an alleged feud between the stars during the press tour caused rampant speculation. The speculation ceased when Baldoni and Lively began directly accusing each other of misconduct.
Lively
filed a sexual harassment complaint against Baldoni in December, alleging that the actor and director spearheaded a smear campaign against her. A
New York Times investigation into the conflict led to a wave of repercussions for Baldoni, including his
podcast host departing their show and his former publicist suing him for breach of contract.
After Lively filed a lawsuit against Baldoni, and he filed a countersuit, a trial date was set for March 9, 2026.
Though Reynolds has mostly stayed out of the fracas, Baldoni's lawyer did claim that
Reynolds' "Nicepool" character in
Deadpool & Wolverine was intended to deliberately mock the
Jane the Virgin star. Baldoni has also
accused Reynolds of "aggressively berating" him for "fat-shaming" Lively while shooting their film.
