Do you ever think about shit like this?

I’ve been a member of 2 large forums for years. BGOL and Boxden. At one time they were equally as large. Boxden has grown and BGOL has been slowly dying (even HNIC has admitted so).

The reason (IMO) for that is because Boxden constantly has new members. There’s always a younger generation signing up. Meanwhile, BGOL keeps getting older with no fresh blood. Me ,Shaddy and Chiyo are the youngest niggas up here and we are in our late 30s

Thoughts?

Real talk though, what the fuck is on the internet besides porn and y'all? I mean you do stuff for Google searches and shit but if you're not buying nothing what the fuck is there to do on the internet other than look at porn and come laugh with y'all motherfuckers?

There's similar threads in many different message boards, we just have to figure out which ones are for us.

Time changes and so do we.

I remember when I got on this joint back in 98/99. I was young as hell and didn't openly talk about the board. Shit was a mad secret and slowly I told a few about it. A few folks I know joined up and it was hush hush when we would speak on it. I'm not in my early 40s. That time keeps on ticking. This board has seen me graduate HS, go through college, start a career, and growth my persona life. Wild

This place is our barbershop....but as the internet has become what it is, BGOL isn't needed anymore for the youngsters. Porn is free and easily available. Most other media is readily available. Hundreds of messageboards and sites exist to congregate and share ideas. Social media has taken over.
I've been rocking with yall since On Probation days. From dial-up 56K killer desktops, to 5Gcellphone; BGOL was always one of the first websites added to the Favorites, lol! I was Lurking mostly, been through the many changes. I still have hard drives full of music and movies that I've collected for nearly 20 years. I still come here to download music, lol! Why, I don't know! My boys laugh at me when I say I still download music, lol!
But I'll say this...seeing some of the OGs pass away is surreal. We may not know each other in the real world, but BGOL brotherhood is real. We have shared a lot with each other. I've used this platform to express things that I wouldn't dare say to anyone. Confessed to things that I couldn't tell to the closet people in my life. The anonymity provides a freedom for a lot of us on here.
I'll be here until I'm gone or BGOL is gone.

I'm saying that to many on BGOL, although we don't know each other it feels like we know each other.

We know what state some stay in, what they do for a living, that they have kids.

We know certain aspects of their life that's troubling and what aspects are good.

That's what I meant by here it's a bit more personal. When someone makes a thread that they're going through something, many of the members rally around them to lift them up.

On other message boards, it's just mainly a bunch of blank faces talking.

This post is quite poignant, perhaps the most illuminating and spot-on response to why we've declined in growth over the years.
Technology came for us like it did for newspapers, hotels, and the taxicab industry.
