Quick question for the team: I have a collection of movies on an external hard drive (formats are .Mp4 and .Mkv) that I currently play on my computer.

I would like to be able to play these movies on my TV from this external hard drive.

What do I need to do in order to connect this to either directly to my TV or home network to be able to watch these movies on one or more of my TVs in my home?

Here is a list of my devices that may be useful:
TV: Sony A90J
WIFI Router/Hub: Netgear Nighthawk
Additional Switch: Netgear 24- Port Gigabit Ethernet Switch (Model JGS524)

Please let me know if there are additional pieces of hardware needed, etc. My goal is to connect this external hard drive to be able o watch movies on the external hard drive, on my TV.

Thanks in advance.

If you have an old computer you can repurpose to a plex media server. Or you can buy an android tv box off amazon. You can put any video player you want on it and hook an external hard drive up to it. I have an android box on several of my tv's in case someone wants to watch something I've downloaded.
