Kamala Harris agrees with Tim Scott that the US is not racist, but says racism must not be ignored
By Betsy Klein, CNN

(CNN)Vice President Kamala Harris on Thursday agreed with South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott that the United States is not a racist country, but added that the nation has a history of racism that cannot be overlooked.
During a Thursday morning appearance on ABC's "Good Morning America," Harris was asked to react to comments from Scott -- made during the Republican response to President Joe Biden's joint address to Congress -- that the US is not a racist country. Scott waded into an array of hot-button policy debates and issues during his speech, including infrastructure, voting rights, policing reform and racism and discrimination, saying at one point that "America is not a racist country."
"No. I don't think America is a racist country but we also do have to speak truth about the history of racism in our country and its existence today," Harris said. "I applaud the President for always having the ability and the courage, frankly, to speak the truth about it."

Racist Minnesota Prom Proposal Investigated by School District

A school district in Minnesota is investigating reports that a student used a sign with racist language to ask another student to prom.
© Bethany Clarke/Getty Images (File photo) students arrive at St James' Park, the venue for the school prom on July 1, 2011 in Newcastle, United Kingdom. A Minnesota school district is investigating reports of a student using racist language to ask another student to prom.
An image of the male and female students pictures together holding a sign "If I was Black I'd be picking cotton, but I'm white so I'm picking you. Prom?" is being shared on social media.

The image was reported to have been taken in Big Lake. In a statement posted on its website, the Big Lake School District said it was made aware of the proposal and is "taking this report very seriously."
The district added that due to state and federal data privacy laws, it is prohibited from sharing more information about this matter, including the names of the students allegedly involved.
"We will be evaluating it under any and all applicable School District policies and will take whatever action is necessary and appropriate to address the situation," the statement said.
"Big Lake Schools does not condone racism, in any form. Our school has been committed to implementing the Hornet Way, as a way to develop and guide our students' character and actions. The Hornet Way teaches the values of respect, honesty, kindness, responsibility, and fairness. We believe those values extend to all aspects of our school community.
"The School District also is committed to ensuring that all students and staff are treated equally and can attend school and report to work in a comfortable and welcoming environment. Our expectations are high and we expect compliance by all."
The Big Lake School District has been contacted for comment.
This is not the first time that a student has caused outrage by using a sign with almost identical racist phrasing to ask someone to their school prom.
In 2019, a student from Clear Fork, Ohio, posted a photo of himself standing beside a girl with a poster that read: "If I was Black I'd be picking cotton, but I'm white so I'm picking U for prom!"
Clear Fork Valley Local Schools Superintendent Janice Wyckoff later confirmed that the student in question was banned from attending prom.
"This is a teachable moment for this student in particular and for all students. This type of speech regardless of the occasion is inappropriate. It is hurtful to everyone," Wyckoff said.
In 2018, a senior at Riverview High School in Florida also posted a photo of himself holding a sign with the words, "If I were black I'd be picking cotton, but I'm white so I'm picking you 4 prom?"
The school said the student was banned from attending school activities for the rest of that year, including the prom and graduation, over the sign.

Isn't it ironic that Biden yesterday publicly said "white supremacy is terrorism" which directly highlight America as being a racist country.... and now his own black vice-president is basically saying the opposite.... she's either living in an alternative universe or just doing the usual coon tap dancing routine.

Whites are the only one with the power to practice racism. Blacks, Asians and Indians can be bigots, but not racists.

Surprising how many people don't get this pretty straightforward concept. I understand when racist whites do it. They'll say anything to attempt to bring us down to their level...they're ok with us being equal in that regard....only.

Alotta folks use the words racist and bigots interchangeably...they're not the same.

Racism is a mind fuck..

The issue is..

Illegal occupation and theft of Moorish land and resources

Especially gold and other precious metals.

Its about an illegal alien and criminal and defacto govt.

Its about the Stealing of Our estates.

My people so busy talking about racism.

We as a whole don't realize...

Our language and culture was just a few of the things

Stolen from us.

American moors are the richest heirs the world has ever seen.

Ask the queen as the pope..

They know our true history...

We slowly waking up to it.

These coons are dangerous and continue to expose their hypocrisy daily. Not one of these bitch made Democrips have called out Harris for saying the exact same statement that all of them used to call Tim Scott a coon. I would laugh but it isn’t cool to make fun of the mentally ill.

Big difference in what the perpetually grinnin' self-hating Negro Tim Scott said and Kamala Harris' answer. Harris is a politician and gave the appropriate answer to a loaded question. Could you really expect a sitting Vice President to say the country is racist nation? The fall out would be monumental and give white people of ill will all they would need to further their supremacist agenda. Here's the big difference, Harris emphatically included in her answer that racism is alive and well in America while Tim Scott did no such thing and essentially intimated that white people are victims. For you to equate both the Scott and Harris' comment as being the same really is disingenuous.

Tim Scott is the token Senator from South Carolina and will do nothing he feels will upset his majority white backers. Any black man that would vote in favor voter suppression which he will do when the House passed John Lewis Voting Rights Act reaches the Senate is worse than a coon, he's a Judas. :hmm:
