2 bucks worth of ramen
1 buck wheat bread loaf
3 bucks pound of ham
2 bucks worth of cut chicken breasts (bone in is cheaper, about 1.50 pound)
2 bucks on frozen veggies

Got enough variety that i wouldn't go too nuts and could last probably a week and a half.

I would go buy a case of water 20 in a pack for about 4 bucks, get a case of Gatorade with the remaining six bucks and hit a busy intersection or high school football game. I'm selling them bitches for a $1 and $2 a piece and flipping that $10 into at least $60.:yes::yes::yes::yes:

I dont know where some of you all shop at but a "case" of gatorade cost more than some 6 dollars.

I could live off tuna forever if i had to. i would stock up on the tuna when it is like 50 cents a can. Buy the bread on tuesday it is usually buy one loaf get one free on that day. Acme always has some kind of soda/juice for 10 for 10 so i would buy a couple bottles of whatever they had on sale that week. As far as water goes if i only had 10 bucks for groceries i'm not going to waste it on bottled water i'm drinking that shit straight from the tap.

Rice, beans, vegetables (onions, green pepper), maybe a pack of turkey bacon. Make a big ass pot of beans and rice and it'll last for a few days.

For four people, it is pretty cool. A lot of manpower to prepare the meals though. Another good one is http://www.e-mealz.com/index.shtml . I haven't used it, but I heard a lot of good things about it. I've had some steak from someone that picked up a box at Angel Foods, and OMG that was the most tender steak I've ever had

Back when I first got my apartment (and ate meat) This is what I did:

Wait until late in the day and buy a Rotisserie chicken. They have to get rid of the leftover ones to make room for the fresh ones, so I could cop a decent sized one for about $2.00. (less if you could convince dude to mark it down more)

Two bottles of Pathmark apple juice. $1.50 a piece = $3.00
One bag of mixed vegetables: $1.00
One large can of potatoes: $1.25
a dollars worth of Ramen noodles: $1.00

Grand total $8.25 (before tax..but thank GOD I have a Pathmark card.)

Now that I'm vegan, I would substitute the chicken for beans and brown rice and a head of cabbage or spinach for the Ramen noodles.

Hell yeah.

Me, I would get:

2 2lb bags of pinto beans/black beans = $3

1 pack of smoked turkey necks or drums = $2.50

1 2lb bag of rice = $2

8 bags of top ramen from the dollar store = $2

I can drink ice water or make some green tea from my pantry

I have 0.50cent left over for a pack of gum

Hit the free store for a bag of fruit.

I'm good for ten days............

Great thread by the way OP.

I haven't had to resort to buying food on a microbudget in years. But from what I remember the spaghetti route is the best route. You can do a lot with meat sauce (ground beef with tomato sauce). You can put it on bread and have a manwich or if you are tired of pasta you can put it over rice.

Man, I remember making big pots full of of spaghetti and meat sauce ( I used to mix it all together) that would feed me lunch and dinner for over a week.
