Damn, R.I.P.

With all the controversy/beef over the years and Ashanti/Nelly shit recently it's easy to forget how substantial Irv was to 90's and early 2000s hip hop including being one of the main people behind the emergence of two of the biggest stars on the culture in DMX and Jay Z.

Sadly they'll probably speak about the beef with 50 and G Unit when this breaks but this is a major loss for hip hop.

What’s even sadder is it was barely 3 years ago that he was emotional and celebrating the deal he'd made to sell his publishing. At least in doing that he was able to ensure his family would be well taken care of after he was gone.

Based off that Drink Champs interview I suspect his decline in health was a combination of diet/diabetes, drinking and possibly some drug use since he's admitted to both in the past although I don't think it was any of the hard shit.

He was adamant that he wasn't going to totally give up his vices despite his health concerns even though his children were begging him to.

Sadly that may have ended up costing him.

Once you're on that shit, its hard to get off of it.

Addiction is dangerous and real.

Just like when DMX died from coke, he was trying to get right but still doing them drugs.

It's sad how we're losing a lot of these legends we grew up seeing back then. :smh:

It’s Murder is my song. The intro is me.

Don’t forget he’s responsible for Mic Geronimo.
