My friend mother started at the PO in 1979 until her retirement in 2017. She's retired now and is living in a $500K house.

Depends to some people. I'm an USPS Mail Handler for 2 years now and I just starting working at a distribution and processing facility in Garden City, Long Island (across the Roosevelt Field Mall Center) a month ago. My first year was Bethpage, Long Island as a mail handler assistant causal.
Now, full pledge mail handler with benefits, medical, 401K and mail handler union too!!
I have no complaints so far!

Any and everything is better than carrying mail as a Letter Carrier. Especially in a big city. These people will murder you dead on the wrong day because they have battered wife syndrome and are pushed to the edge daily.
