Hugo Weaving as Red Skull was an excellent casting choice.
Tommy Lee Jones was good in it.
Showing Steve Rodgers before he got the powers was cool.
And the reveal after he got his powers is a classic Marvel moment.
Oh and the scene when he wakes up and realizes it’s the future and he says “i had a date” was cool
The issues are after he gets the powers, they really don’t showcase his abilities properly. It’s becomes a montage of his actions. Maybe it was bad editing.
Maybe it’s more of a 7/10 actually

@EPDC this is the version op watched. This is what we had in the 70s and 80s. A superhero flick with 6 million dollar man special effects and A-team type musical score for the action scenes. Not even areal villain just some random terrorist witha bomb. Marvel has come a long way and after this trailer i dont want to hear any complaints about phase 1 captain america ever again

I thought the first iron Man was fun. Especially the part with him figuring out the suit.
What kind of ruined it all was old guy jumping in the suit and flying it like he's been in it his entire life. No test run, nothing. He just couldn't figure out the freeze that iron Man did from testing it out

Man, when I was like 9/10 years old this shit had me hyped....this and the spider-man TV movies with Kim Fields' mom. Pre-downloads, pre-on demand, pre-dvr and we didn't own a vcr...so if you missed it airing Friday at 8pm, you were fucked until they showed a repeat a year later.

Almost everything in phase one(except maybe iron Man 2) is near perfect. Literally the foundation of everything coming out these days, Captain America was excellent, why would you imagine that Captain America wouldn't be a pro America propaganda film? Lmao it's Captain....aaameriiiicaaaa.... Lol movie was so on point that the DCUs highest rated film was a direct rip off of Captain America. Directed by a legendary Hollywood mainstay in Joe Johnston. It was a perfect introduction for a man from a different time who would then play the fish out of water in future films.
Iron Man was near perfect(still the best iron Man movie) the incredible hulk with Norton is The Best banner, best hulk we ever got(outside of CGI quality) the avenger imo is still the best avengers movie, you can watch that movie without watching 400 movies and it makes sense. Infinity war and end game are fan service cluster fucks of movies that if watched by someone who's never seen a marvel movie they'd think they were having a mild stroke.
My all time favorite MCU movie is still guardians 1 but after that it's hit and miss for me.
