Proud Boys suspects plead not guilty in Capitol riot charges despite video
BY CAMERON JENKINS - 02/09/21 03:26 PM EST 244

Two Proud Boys members who have been named as suspects affiliated with the Capitol riot that took place on Jan. 6 pleaded not guilty to the charges against them, despite the wide circulation of a video on social media that placed both men at the scene.

Dominic Pezzola, 43, and William Pepe, 31, who are both members of the far-right extremist group, pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy and interfering with officers who were protecting the Capitol, USA Today reported.

Both Pezzola and Pepe reportedly led a group of rioters supporting former President Trump into the Capitol and removed metal barricades to allow more people to enter.

Court documents also state that Pezzola "ripped away the officer’s riot shield, while the officer was physically engaging with individuals who had gathered unlawfully in the west plaza of the Capitol," according to USA Today.
"Pezzola can be seen on video that has been widely distributed, using that riot shield to smash a window at the U.S. Capitol," prosecutors said.
Both men are among the Proud Boys members and multiple others to be charged after storming the Capitol last month.

On Monday, a federal judge released Proud Boys leader Ethan Nordean, who faces charges relating to the Capitol riot, pending trial.

That is how the economy works. Workers shift according to where the work is.
The unemployment rate shows that those workers who lost retail jobs were
hired somewhere else in the economy.
You forgot about people not being counted in the unemployment numbers.

Then you have this.

Abraham Pizam, chair in tourism management and the founding dean of Rosen College of Hospitality Management at the University of Central Florida, says his position is not popular among academic peers, but he is convinced the fast-food industry is on a path to be the first to fully automate.

Low wages, lack of career paths and an overwhelming belief among the working public that fast-food jobs should only ever be temporary all contribute to the worsening turnover issues. “You talk to an employee here in the U.S. and it is nothing to be proud of,” he said. “It’s a job until I graduate or until I’m back on my feet,” he said. “No one who thinks of a job as temporary is motivated.”

There are no other job segments in the U.S. that have higher turnover than the fast-food and fast-casual segments of the restaurant industry, according to DiPietro at the University of South Carolina’s School of Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management. “Not even retail.”

She said that’s due to the reputation of the restaurant industry. Many people consider these lower jobs than retail due to hours, job responsibilities and uniforms that typically have to be worn. “Even though the pay may be equal, the perception of restaurants is lower than in retail.”

It's expected that people despite being caught red-handed will plead not guilty. Especially when you're facing felony charges and some time to go along with it.

That is not point. The food industry is just one small part of the economy. You
failing or refusing to see the point. The economy was in full employment, whether
or not the food industry was doing well or not. If the economy is in full employment
it is time to discuss a pay raise. It does not matter if all the chefs and servers were
laid off. If the unemployment rate was 3.6% it means they found work somewhere
else.

I didn't argue against pay raises. I argued against you saying that no jobs will be lost.
You say it's republican bs but it wasn't even the republicans making the claim. If was OLS.
As I stated you're forgetting about the people not being counted in the unemployment numbers.
Plus as I statee previously. Workers will and are being replaced by automation, outsourcing to other countries, etc...

Why does this guy hold the back of his head when he takes a sip of water? That's more weird than Trump's two handed sip.
He used to a hand on the back of his head when something in his mouth.

edit: they said it's because he's an observant Jew and since he isn't wearing a yarmulke, he covers his head with his hand.

I don’t know if the Democrats can pull 17 Republicans but boy they are going to put the Republicans back against the wall.....This may have long lasting consequences for the Republicans. Also the Democrats can use this for political ads in 2022. Also you see why his first group of lawyers jumped out the window

'Get someone to investigate': Ukraine releases tape of Rudy Giuliani pressuring officials to probe Bidens
On Tuesday, TIME Magazine reported that they obtained a recording of former President Donald Trump's associate Rudy Giuliani pressuring Ukrainian officials to open investigations into Joe Biden's family in 2019.

"Let these investigations go forward," said Giuliani on the tape. "Get someone to investigate this."

"The 40-minute call, a transcript of which was obtained by TIME, provides the clearest picture yet of Giuliani's attempts to pressure the Ukrainians on Trump's behalf," said the report. "The President's personal lawyer toggled between veiled threats — 'Be careful,' he warned repeatedly — and promises to help improve Ukraine's relations with Trump. 'My only motive — it isn't to get anybody in trouble who doesn't deserve to be in trouble,' Giuliani said. 'For our country's sake and your country's sake, we [need to] get all these facts straight,' he added. 'We fix them and we put it behind us.'"

The plot to pressure the government of Ukraine to "investigate" the Biden family's business dealings in return for foreign military sales led to Trump's first impeachment. Trump is now in the middle of his second impeachment trial, for inciting an insurrection at the U.S. Capitol.

Ukrainian officials have signaled new willingness to reveal details about the Trump administration's pressure campaign, now that a new administration has taken over.

According to the report, former Ukrainian presidential adviser Igor Novikov "is willing to assist an ongoing federal investigation of Giuliani that is reportedly underway in New York, as well as a separate effort to strip Giuliani of his license to practice law."

She told the crowd at the National Action Network convention that such a generational attitude was the “underpinning” of a list of policies that include health care for all, free public college -- and reparations to black Americans for slavery.
