Joe is a/b testing...full disclosure I don't really watch the show anymore.
I thought the kid was a good IDEA but maybe not THAT kid?
Because his father is a legend that is a VERY specific life experience. Which has a serious VALUE.
And I understand Joe thinking with the topics they discuss that would be helpful.
In PRACTICE it wasn't.
I don't like a bunch of old heads yelling at the youth twice a week claiming they KNOW what they think want and like.
And haveing a vocie of YOUTH injected occassionlaly in these discussions could be VERY beenfitial.
But I think they needed a more "regular" kid? What ever that means.
Or a kid you a more traditional upbringing?
Who was/is the target audience these corporations are obsessed with?
Joe is a/b testing...
I really wish he would do what he said he initially wanted to do
when the weather warms up - bring a couple strippers on the pod
let em hang on the balcony - have them come in and do a segment / mini interview
I do think some are pure....Folks like SAS (i know, i know i don't fuck with him either) and Bakari speak on major platforms and can't say the samething they can say on the major platform they are on....I know for a fact that's why Bakari started his podcast because he was constraint in what he can say on CNN.....
Hell even look at Unc....Unc can't say half the stuff he says on his podcast.....
I do think there are others (we saw it in this election) that are paid to push an agenda.....
Where ?That episode getting paywalled like episode 779
(Bootleg link still up)
Mind you, i was on here side until she said that shit. When yall right yall right.
She and Marc even flip were killing. She fk it all the way up.
I don't THINK - I KNOW this is the case.
I disagree with him completely
there are industry plants in podcasting just like people claim in anything else.
Not just based on sponsorship
just to get ON in a flooded marketplace.
MOST podcasters are talking sh*t giving hot takes being disingenuous cannibalizing each other regurgitating the same exact talking points and can't follow the most basic media ethics.
Maybe he needs to explain what he really means by "pure".
Maybe I misunderstood...Was he specifically talking about hip hop podcasts or podcasts in general.....Hip hop, probably disagree...Podcasts in general (covering a multitude of topics), I probably would agree.....
as I understood him?
He said podcast doesn't have a gatekeeper or a corporation PUSHING ideas and agendas
He is talking about HIMSELF but then said the INDUSTRY AS A WHOLE is pure
Podcast aren't controlled
That the industry can't CREATE a podcast.
He is wrong. Because he is conflating ease of entry into podcasting as some type of FREEDOM and claiming all podcast success is therefore "organic"
That is not true.
Agreed. Hip Hop industry definitely isn't pure....
I do think podcasting as a whole across all subject matters is still pure for the most part compared to other media outlets...
