I agree with your stance, but this is elitism at its best. I would take your statement a little higher and say if they serve French Fries are they really a high end restaurant. It could be and the Fries are really there for kids given that kids can be picky eaters. In some people's eyes Fries are kids food. Personally, I'll eat what I want how I want it and I'm not concerned about how it is viewed.
Even with elitism, there are tiers to it and in certain circles Joe himself wouldn't make the cut. Think of the typical high end clothing brand. Chances are if the masses are aware of it the true elites look down on it or it isn't held in the same regard. That's part of the reason some companies get upset when hip-hop mentions their brand. They aren't looking to be a 5 to 10 year hype train. It's about being exclusive and catering to the 1% for centuries.I get Joe trying to educate his man on the world of the elite and im assuming its a skit, but 1 Joe clearly feels this way on some level and 2 he should have more respect for people he calls friends. He gave the advice and his friend prefers Fries; respect it. Imagine a former junkie telling me I'm making him look bad.
Typically when I try a new restaurant, I will get something "simple" Example: the first time i had Cheesecake Factory food (not desert) I had Chicken Tenders and Fries. Fries were nasty..how you mess up French Fries? That lets me know what the rest of the food taste like. I've been there since, but I always get a salad. Maybe I'm "Low brow"
