Harold Abrahams won the 100m sprint at the 1924 Summer Olympics in Paris with a time of 10.6 seconds, which was the fastest time of the competition. Abrahams' time was actually a world record of 10.4 seconds, but the official timer only recorded 10.52 seconds because he started the race so late. Abrahams' victory made him the first European and only Englishman to win the sprint until Linford Christie's victory in 1992.
I find it incredible that in 100 years we've only shaved off less than a second. And thats WITH advanced technology and better healthcare.
