It saddens me to see contention regarding Sha'Carri since three Jamaican women swept the track for all the medals in their scope. I got nothing but love for all those Black folks out there struggling and competing. Many of the athletes including Simone Biles have had hard lives. Some come from the most humble upbringings and some from tumultuous environments. Yet they compete as titans of their sport. Sha'Carri is young. She's still in the game. Hopefully the next Olympics will be in the USA or Canada.

IOC been robbing folks blind for so many years they can barely give the games away now...Paris and LA were the ones going for 2024 so they gave the next 2 to them and Brisbane was the only city in the competition for the one it got

2026 World Cup to be shared between Mexico, USA, Canada...countries and cities getting hip to the scam

All I know is Jamaica swept, but don't know none of their girls by name, what endorsements they affiliated with, and couldn't spot em out of a line up. Sha'Carri doesn't have that problem. :dunno:

HMMM SR is a US citizen so the media will focus hard as hell on her.. best believe Jamaica ain't worried about SC. The us media did the same shit to Bolt but couldn't deny him after while because he kept winning so easy and hard. Notice how you know many of the us athletes but none from other countries.

Bolt was a bonafide star, these other runners are not and can't sell products and aren't big names in the US. It's also illogical to expect the US to promote athletes from other countries over their own. The honus is on Jamaica to make them household names, not the US. This is why many immigrate here and play for Team USA over their home countries, more visibility and opportunity.

I'm sure they're well known in their home country. What other track athlete outside of Bolt, has had global appeal in recent memory? He was a generational talent. That had all the intangibles to make him a household name. I don't think it's fair to compare the other athletes global appeal to him. Most of them will be rockstars within there own country. I doubt you will see Sha'Carri endorsements outside of the U.S. No one in Europe, S.America, Africa, etc. gives a damn about who she is.

I don't have any issue with the young woman. I was actually pulling for her, but lets be honest. She fucked up and blew a golden opportunity to compete in the OLYMPICS. The pinnacle of competition for most of the athletes. I don't care how shitty the coverage has been, or that ratings are down. It's still biggest SHOW in town for them. She may recover and still get some endorsements, but nothing like she could've gotten had she been there. She didn't maximize her potential. But maybe she satisfied with being hood rich.

She fucked up and owned up to it. She need to focus on her internal issues that drove her to the weed. And not tweeting stuff like "do ya'll miss me yet?" which comes off as immature. Reminds me of a star athlete getting kicked off the team, because of some stuff his boys that don't even play talked him into doing. Now they're sitting in the stands together talking about how much the team sucks.

Sha'Carri is an international star and has endorsements with international brands. Her story made international headlines including in Jamaica. You're naive if you think she's only known in the US. There have been plenty of big track stars before Bolt, Jesse Owens, Edwin Moses, Carl Lewis, Michael Johnson, Flo Jo, Jackie Joyner Kersee, etc. You guys overrate the Olympics because it's the only chance your guys can be seen on an international platform. That just isn't the case for US athletes and as Sha'Carri has shown it isn't important as far as popularity goes. They were asking Jamaican runners who won questions about Sha'Carri after their races and she didn't even compete!

Jamaica not pushing for her to compete and beating her on the track was a mistake and has led to her becoming even bigger than the runners who competed. If you really wanna humble her, beat her on the track! You've yet to do so.

LOL..Sha'Carri is not an international star. Her story making headlines over seas doesn't make her a star. I don't see her helping to move any product or services outside of the U.S. and even that is shaky. You confusing being in the headlines for being a star. Winning medals and competing in the Olympics is what help make track athletes a star. Do you think Bolt would be where he is if not for the Olympics? And my question was has there been any athletes in recent memory to have any global appeal...meaning with in the last 20 years. All those people you named have something in common. They competed and won in the Olympics.

And who cares if some dumb reporter is focused on asking about Sha'carri after the race. Thompson-Herah just defended her title, won two gold medals and set a new OLYMPIC RECORD in the 100m. And you asking me about a bitch who couldn't put the ganja down for a few weeks to compete. It would be like some goofy reporter asking Tom Brady to comment on Dak Prescott or Lamar Jackson after beating Pat Mahomes for the SB. If given the choice, do you think any of the Jamaican girls would switch spots with Sha'carri right now?

Thompson-Herrah is unknown outside of Jamaica. The medals aren't helping. We'll see if she's more talked about and visible than Sha'Carri these next few years. Sha'Carri is still young and has plenty of time to win an Olympic medal. I don't think Thompson Herrah or any Jamaican female runner will even be discussed much on this board or more than Sha'Carri and it's heavily slanted towards West Indians.

oh please like the US wouldn't have done the same thing if SFP got caught dirty

you sound like an old mother whose son got busted for a crime and she blames EVERYONE BUT her son....its the cops fault...its the store owners fault..its the witnesses who testified agianst him fault etc etc...everyone but HIM...

Sha'carri smoked a joint...Sha'carri fucked up...she's sitting her ass home when she SHOULD have been there PROVING all the shit she's TALKING. And changing the narrative to her endorsements doesn't change that fact.

she's gotta wait 3 years to prove anything. Like I said before, her getting suspended is the BEST thing to happen to her at this point since she can capitalize on the speculation. But the time to beat for the Olympic record is 10.61 set by Elaine Thompson-Herah. Beat that record and she's truly golden...building her up in the way youre going only means that future races are her's to LOSE. You wanna talk about pressure...wait till 2024.

She doesn't have to wait 3 years for anything. They gotta wait 3 years to prove they can beat her. In the meantime she will be the biggest star in track and field and enjoy celeb status. They will be back in their homelands not heard from again til the next Olympics.

I think 10.61 proves that....whats sha'carris best time?? 10.72 her fastest time at 100m 10.64 in +2.6 wind??

everyone today will probably be retired by then and unless some other superstars emerge sha'carri will most likely be racing a weaker line up by then. but 10.61 is the time to beat.
