The artist formerly known as Kanye West wore a t-shirt emblazoned with the phrase “White Lives Matter” on the back while addressing attendees at his YZY SZN 9 presentation in Paris on Monday.
Ye, who was also wearing his pair of previously-headlined diamond-studded flip-flops, was spotted in the shirt early into the livestream experience. At the time of this writing, a detailed look at the full design of the t-shirt in question had not been disclosed, although the front does feature a Pope John Paul II photo collage. Several models in the presentation were also seen wearing variations of the same design.

Candace Owens was also in attendance and wearing a “White Lives Matter” t-shirt.

During his opening remarks on Monday, Ye touched on a variety of topics, including how certain outlets focused on the delayed start time of his prior events when such delays were (in Ye’s words) merely a side effect of trying to “present the best idea.”

As for the “White Lives Matter” design, the phrase itself, of course, is often associated with various far-right ideologies and frequently used (as is “All Lives Matter,” et al.) among fervent Trump supporters. In the past, Ye has expressed support for Trump and related assertions.

Ahead of Monday’s YZY SZN 9 unveiling, Ye made his runway debut as part of Balenciaga’s Summer 23 show, the mud-covered set for which Demna described in show notes as being “a metaphor for digging for truth and being down to earth.”

Every time I’ve seen this posted, there’s always at least one comment stating this was done to create controversy. Maybe. The thing I don’t like about that post is, I think that’s used as a scapegoat excuse.

What’s he “trying” to say? Who is he catering too?

Real talk, if he wanted to be radical, he would do holistic and healthy stuff with his kids and blast that. He’d create more controversy in the world he lived in (my assumption that he chooses to exist in a world with few Black people that don’t report to him) by being an unapologetic Black father raising kids that identify as Black.

But, only thing that’s going to continue to happen is those kids images will be pimped and if they follow their aunties methods, soon they will learn to pimp themselves out and attention whore themselves.

His base is goofy niggas that still think he's a genius

…and non-Black people. At a previous job, there was a convo about clothes and this one white guy (who loved Kanye’s clothing) argued about how his favorite tshirt was a Kanye white t shirt and how sure it looked plain and just like a Hanes shirt but it was the softest tshirt he ever felt. Seemed like he was trying to justify spending $75 on a basic tshirt.

What's the use?

Rap fans are still going to support, they don't cancel anybody. Rap isn't music, it's a religion to some, and converting away from it is apostasy.

My bad bro, I got little sleep and have too many typos. I’ll have to edit that post. That was supposed to be “…and Non-Black people…” Where I live, Black folks aren’t the largest minority. Other minorities and white people seem to like/love him a lot more.
